I don't know, exploding hot dogs (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2009/05/nats_sausage_fail.html)might be funnier.

At least for all their failures, they should still end up with Stephen Stasburg as a consolation prize. It wouldn't surprise me if they screwed up those negotiations though. They should just be prepared to come up with the $50 million he'll ask for, and I wouldn't be surprised if Boras floats out $52-55 million or more either.

I would. Final numbers will probably be somewhere around $30 mil. $50 mil is just a negotiation/PR ploy.

It'd be funny if the Nationals accidentally draft someone else.

They've pretty much already announced they're taking Strasburg. They'd be crazy not to.

:mg: holy crap...I cannot believe that, they better get Kittle42 on the payroll stat!

I think what he meant was if, through some crazy gaffe, they misspell his name or don't file the pick in time or something else inept like that.

If I were a low-level pitching prospect, I would consider changing my name to Stephen Strassburg.

Will anybody really be surprised if they accidentally draft Jeff Barry?

Maybe baseball and D.C. aren't meant for each other.

People will watch a winning team here. When the team was new and playing .500 ball in 2004 they drew 2.7 million.

I didn't think they could possibly embarrass themselves any further. Man, was I wrong.

The funniest is the 'TV Fail' from the other da (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2009/06/nationals_television_fail.html)y. Fans trying to watch what was a 9th-inning comeback by the home team after a rain delay were instead treated to highlights of the day from CSPAN2.

After building the new stadium, it is unlikely the Nats are going anywhere. It's really too bad that can't play respectable baseball.

Ladies and gentlemen... the Rodney McCray bobblefence! (and yes I actually own one of these! Disregard the paragraph at the bottom of the picture... this promo was from a few years ago)

Just like in the late 90s when the Twins should have disbanded... There was no way that team will ever be able to develop and retain talent.

It still amazes me that the Tigers went from 43 wins to a World Series appearance in three years.
