Umpire Joe West gave some interesting insight on how umpires now deal with balls that could be a home run but not 100% certain as was the case in Boston last night.
West explained the best way to deal with it is to call the ball "in play" because we can always look at it later. If we called it a homer and then reverse it you have a problem with where the runners should be.
I have no problem with this.
