Any idea who is going to be invited to play in the Futures Game in St. Louis this year?

I'm guessing Beckham & Poreda should be there. Maybe even Viciedo for the World team?

Who knows who will be on there. It's up to Baseball America and MLB to decide who will be on the rosters. Only 2 players maximum from each organization are allowed though. Based on notoriety I would assume Beckham will be playing, and a case could be made for many others if a 2nd player is chosen. Still plenty of time to decide.

With the way he's been playing, I'd be shocked if Brandon Allen didn't make it. I could see Poreda getting the nod over him though.

Surprised they picked Viciedo over Allen.

They already had Flowers for the U.S. team. You usually see one organization guy on each team.

Former White Sox prospect Chris Carter is also on the US Team.

Looks like some pretty good prospects on those rosters...

Don't they limit it to 2 players per organization?

Huh? Only 2 players from each organization are allowed. Flowers is easily the Sox top prospect with Gordon and Poreda in the bigs. Viciedo deserves the other spot as much as anyone else.

The game is at 1 today on ESPN2. Considering that's the same time as the Sox game, I'll be recording it and watching it later. I can't wait to get a look at Flowers and Viciedo.

I'm pretty excited to see Flowers. Not so much Viciedo after hearing Goldstein's recent comments on him. (Yes, yes. Young, acclimating, etc but he hasn't looked good so far.)

God, the inferiority complex around here is suffocating sometimes.

Flowers had a throwing error in the first inning, Alcides Escobar hit a high chopper and Flowers tried to rush the throw to get him out (he was flying down the line) and threw it away.

Right now there's a rain delay.

What were Goldstein's comments?

It wasn't just Goldstein it was multiple scout comments, and none were good.

Pretty much said that he is a butcher in the field, is still out of shape, has shown no power, and swings at everything. I believe the Goldstein interview was on Futuresox.

Don't get me wrong I still am excited about Viciedo, but at this point I'm much more intrigued by Flowers/Danks/Hudson etc.

I didn't realize his stance was so closed. Looked good at the plate, his patience sure showed.

He sure is a big one.

It seems Flowers has been promoted to AAA as well. (According to this interview.)

Congrats to Tyler, he certainly deserved the promotion. One can only imagine how much he'll hit in Charlotte. You gotta feel bad for Birmingham, they keep losing their best players :D:.

I'm wondering if this means Dexter Carter will be promoted to AA soon which would then mean Jared Mitchell would be off the DL and join Kannapolis.

Idk if it could also mean a deal is coming soon, how long after Allen's promotion was he traded?

I would be very surprised if Dexter skipped to AA. He has great strikeout numbers, but he is rather inconsistent in other facets of the game. They seem to be taking it slow with him, which would lead one to assume there are still some mechanical things he is working on.

Flowers and Viciedo both with hits and both with errors, should fit right into the program.

FWIW I thought Tyler looked rather natural behind the plate today. All while catching three different pitchers he just met this weekend. In regards to the error I think he should have just held onto the ball instead of making that throw.

It will be huge if he stays behind the plate, because his bat at the position is a huge asset. Tons of power, walks, and strikeouts.
