Good win, need to see some production from Fields though. Burls continues to be the stopper.

The Twins are crappy. They are perpetual losers.

Big hits for Thome and Konerko tonight. That's what we need.

Nice win over another struggling team but I'll take it. Josh Fields horrible game at the plate and on the field. Burlymon comes thru again woo hoo!

Well, BA didn't do all that much, but I'm willing to give him time to readjust to the league. The low breaking ball got him out on strikes tonight, IIRC, and that was disappointing to see.

Overall, I'd rate this a pretty good game. Looked like guys were just doing their job. Even Buerhle, who didn't have his best stuff tonight got people out when he really needed to. 3 DPs? Yes please.

The best thing was to see this offense come alive. Gives you SOME hope that there's light at the end of the tunnel. Or something. This was a pretty bad month, but if we can turn it around this early, we're going to have something to fight for--especially in this division. Alexei seems to be coming around, too, but I'm still worried about Josh. Booing him off the field? Eh, he did mess up, but I wouldn't give up on him so soon...at least he's likely got most of the season to prove that he can play.

And if Greinke comes back to Earth, maybe Buehrle can add the same hardware to his mantle.

I agree. The division is bad and if someone can get hot... hey, you never know. They may not be a World Series team but at least lets make this season fun. Yesterday I didn't like the fact that it was May 18th and my baseball season felt like it was slipping away.

This homestand is a good time to do that. The Twins have dropped five straight, and the Pirates stink. No time like the present to wake the hell up.

The Sox haven't won back-to-back games since April 29-May 1. It's time to end that nonsense with a win tomorrow.

There's our ace (probably not as good as 'The Twins are crappy. They are perpetual losers').
The offense finally came through with some big hits. Home runs are still our primary mode of scoring, but at least the other guys did enough. Let's do this again tomorrow.

palehozenychicty
05-19-2009, 10:07 PM
There's still plenty of time to make a run, but Floyd and Danks need to shut the other team down. Our offense will eventually hit.

I am dreading so much my decision to not go to this game. What a beautiful day, and a beautiful win.
I hope our offense can continue to heat up. And our pitching can all learn from Mark's example.

There are few things nicer than, after teaching a 3-hour class, to walk out to the car, listen to the last 2.5 innings of a Sox win, with the windows down, and a cool breeze blowing!

JD-Thome-PK as 3-4-5 looked pretty damned good tonight. Keep it that way until that changes.

Hasn't really been a problem the whole way through (well, Thome disappointing)....

They young book-ends...they don't hit. Or bunt. Or get on base. Or walk. And stuff.

Didn't learn on the way up, not getting it now.

I am not saying we are a great team or even a good team. We are the best team in a bad division though. If we can get healthy and stay close I don't see why we wouldn't win the division.

Just got back from the game. I can't stress enough how PERFECT the weather was tonight. I didn't need my jacket at all.

One thing - I missed Dye's homer because some guy was being taken out by security; he'd passed out. I was so caught up in it that I ended up seeing only the fireworks.

I'm happy I decided to go to the game at the last minute. Feels good to win.

Fire Walker.

Fire Coop.

Heck, fire Ozzie while you're at it. Ozzie did not win a single argument with the Umps, did not toss a single base or kick dirt on anyone. He needs to study the late, great Billy Martin.

Wimp.

Well, BA didn't do all that much, but I'm willing to give him time to readjust to the league. The low breaking ball got him out on strikes tonight, IIRC, and that was disappointing to see.

Maybe they rushed him back before he had sufficient time to get his timing back and to get healthy?

Who knows.....one game is too early to say. BA was hitting well when he got hurt. Hopefully he can just hit half-way mediocre the rest of the year.

JB98, you are letting the entire WSI community down. You need to post this for each and every loss by the Twins!
Just got back from the game. I can't stress enough how PERFECT the weather was tonight.
I was at the game too, and it WAS great to have gorgeous weather for this one! It's about time!

I can't say enough for Jim Thome. He had a big game and came through when we really needed him. It was nice to establish and maintain a comfortable enough lead in this one, although Josh Fields' fielding almost made me pull out a few hairs.

Just got back from game. What fun. Both Paulie's and JD's homers were right in our area. First game we've been to this year that we won and the weather was outstanding.!!

Fields is looking pretty bad tho.

The win was nice.

If they can put together a decent next 10 games I'd feel better. 1 win followed by 5 losses isn't going to help anyone.
