View Full Version : Let's predict the rest of May, shall we?

DaveFeelsRight

Starting today, the Sox have 19 games left. 3 with the Indians, 4 with the Jays, 3 with the Twinkies, 3 with the Pirates (!), 3 with the LAAAAAAAAA, and then they end the month with a 3 game set with the Royals.

Personally, I think we'll drop 2/3 with the Indians, but lose the series in Toronto. But, we'll finish the month strong.

Thoughts?

Indians - 2-1 (you have to beat that team if not then we really do suck - so only lose the C Lee game)

Tor - 1-3

Min - 2-1

Pit - 2-1

LAA - 1-2

KC - 2-1 (you have to make a statement at their park)

10- 9 the rest of May.

1 game under .500 into June.

I'll say 9-10. We should win the Tribe, Twins and Pirates series but I do not have much confidence we will do any more than that. I am especially fearing the series at Toronto.

Like your optimism, the 61 Sox went 19-1 after a lousy start around the same time of the year.

LoveYourSuit

The key for the Sox is for Gavin to start pitching like a man once again. If we can stay competitive 3/5s of the rotation every night and Colon giving us a good one every other start, we can survive in this division.

But if we only have Buehrle and Danks pulling their weight, we might as well put a fork in it.

So Gavin has to be the "Good Gavin" once again and offcourse the hitting needs to step up.

I remember an early series in Toronto where in the first game we were dominated by Shawn Marcum. It didn't get any better with Halladay and Burnett the next two starts. I hate it when they play in Toronto.

EnglishChiSox

I'd take 10-9 or 9-10, i bet the Sox sweep the Twinkies and then lose 2 of 3 to the Pirates. (Why do the Sox play Pittsburgh every year anyway?)

My prediction: In three weeks May will be over.

Average Homeboy

@ Cleveland: 2-1

@ Toronto: 2-2, facing Halladay and Richmond, a split would be a steal.

Minnesota: 2-1

Pittsburgh: 2-1, facing their 3-4-5.

Angels: 1-2, they could have Lackey, Santana, Guerrero, and Moseley back by then. That would not be good.

@ Kansas City: 1-2, looks like we'll see Meche, Greinke, and Davies.

10-9 the rest of May.

Those of you predicting a turn-around, whom are you predicting the White Sox will be adding to this team?

This team is very poor defensively as well as on the bases. They have 3 solid starting pitchers. The bullpen is not bad but is inconsistent. The offense is talented but is a huge mess right now and is completely out of sync.

The only saving grace so far is that Minny and Cleveland have been struggling also.

I'm not sure I would describe our bullpen as "inconsistent." I'd say it has been one of our few strengths.

Also, unless Gavin gets "right" between the ears, we only have 2 "solid starting pitchers."

"LIES! The glorious Sox of White (all praise be unto Kenny) have not lost a game since this thread was created. Even now in their infinite power they are continuing to rain bombs on the freakish cartoons from the Mistake by the Lake. Nothing has changed. 19-0 will be the final record from the date of this thread through the end of this month and nothing can stop the power and glory that is the juggernaut built by K-Dub, groomed and led by the wondrous Ozzie and owned by the magnanimous JR. Look another magnificent blast has just left the bat of Jim Thome who did not sit today after hitting a mere two home runs last night curr of a dog that he is for not hitting 4. All praises be unto the wondrous Lillibridge who has made it unnecessary for the Sox to field any other outfielders while hammering shot after shot after shot deep into the night. The glorious White Sox are reigning supreme. As Kenny so wished it, so let it be done..."
