Did the whole world go nuts when Mauer homered on his first swing of the season? No, of course not. Just like they didn't have daily updates about what it meant to the Twins that their best hitter, and a two-time batting champion, was out. If it had been a Yankee player, we'd have had hourly updates. But no, it was just an AL Central player, out here in fly-over country, which no one cares about.

Thank goodness they showed the stat comparing ARod to All Other Yankee 3B illustrating how many pitches they have seen before their first HR.
