Tomorrow, May 8th, 2009 will be the 25th anniversary of the start of the American League's longest game, won by Seaver (albeit, on the 9th). That means it's my firstborn's 25th birthday. Tempus fugit.

Wow!

I did not remember that. That's awesome.

I don't know of too many pitchers that have a similar style, you have to have some very strong legs to get down and get back up like that for 120 pitches per start.

I was surprised to see that Seaver never pitched 300 innings in his career. He had a ton of season where did pitche 275-290 innings but he never reached 300 innings.

He did finish his games too. From 67-77 he had at least 12 complete games a season. Now, pitchers are lucky to have 12 complete games in 5 years.

Great Figure! McFarlane has been releasing alternate figures to those that have been on multiple teams...ie the Sosa on the Sox. I was hoping they would release a Seaver alternate in a Sox uniform. They did release an alternate..... you guessed it.... the Red Sox.

A friend of mine who ironically is a huge Cub fan. I give him the blue print on how I want it done and he takes care of the rest. Once again, we just do this for the love of the game and is strictly just a hobby

I got a signed Seaver American league ball from the year he won his 300th with the Sox. My buddy worked on some bank commercial with Tom Terrific and was sent to Morrie Mages to get a brand new box of balls for the autographs for the crew. Got one for me.
