I'd like if we could win some close ones without the drama, but a win is a win. Sweep 'em!

Matt and Bobby did all they could too. And PK came up with a clutch hit. Besides that, crap.

A lot of first pitch swinging, and a lot of first pitch outs. Seemed like both sides just wanted to get it out of the way.

Colon had good movement on his fastball -- and excellent command. A really fine effort on his part.

Thank goodness we bunched our two hits. Real weak effort by the offense against a no-name pitcher, but good pitching by Colon and the two relievers overcame the weak bats and shoddy infield defense today.

Great job by WGN in missing a lot of first pitches. Bet that doesn't happen during Cubs games.

Anyway, nice job by Colon, Thornton and Jenks.

Go get 'em in Game 2.

Agreed. I think Bobby made a mistake on the last pitch of the game, but he got away with it. Jenks had good movement on his two-seam fastball today -- and he throws that 94-95.

I dont know about that i hear bobby say that all the time like he can throw it 99-101 when he needs to but then why does he never hit higher than 95-96 even in tight spots. i would think that for example today where he struggled he would gear up and use that 99mph heater

also do the people that went to game one still get to see game 2 free? or because its a full hour away do they get kicked out(i would think it isn't a big deal seeing as they werent going to come close to selling out either game anyway)

He used the big-time fastball during the blackout game against the Twins.

Bobby has more movement on his fastball at 94-95 than he did when he was throwing 99. It's arguably more effective.

Unless the gun was fast on that particular night, Bobby hit 99 and 100 in the Blackout Game (the final pitch of the game was 100mph).

Bobby will be fine. Since the beginning of 2006, people have been worried about him early on, and he ends up fine. It's not like he's throwing 90...he's hitting the mid-90s just like he has the last couple of years.

oh i have no problem with his speed going down if anything it appears he is a better pitcher now but I'm just saying (and if infact he did hit 99 in the blackout game I'm wrong) maybe he doesn't have the speed anymore and that's why he was forced to have to develop more of that movement

Not allowing other hitters to make contact is the most effective way to get people out with out leaving margin for error (Fields).

After that error by Fields. Reach back and blow away the next 3 guys and call it a night That's if you still can, which many like me have doubts he can.

The tickets to get into the first game were for Tuesday's game. They're not kicking anyone out. The Sox had a real double header last year as well vs the Tigers.

For all the crap Reinsdorf takes for being cheap, I'd be curious to find out how many other Major league teams still have real (non split)doubleheaders anymore.

Well, a few years ago, Coop changed Bobby's delivery and arm slot a bit in an effort to prolong Jenks' career. I think some of the drop in mph is directly attributed to that. They want Bobby to close here for a long time. He already has a screw in his arm, and they have to be mindful of that.

I didn't see the game, since I'm at work. I was following on Gamecast and I understand that the first M's batter in the 9th reached on an error. Unless I'm missing something, nice job Bobby of getting 4 outs in the 9th w/o allowing a run.

The problem with that is when Jenks throws his fastball at 100mph, it's straight as a string and even more hittable.

After that error by Fields. Reach back and blow away the next 3 guys and call it a night That's if you still can, which many like me have doubts he can.

If it was only that easy. Besides, if Jenks fielded his position himself, he could have had a double play right after the error.
