By the Ft. Wayne Tincaps, formerly the Wizards, low A team currently for the Padres, formerly the Twins. A.J. now has a mini-season ticket package named after him:

The Tincaps also have an incredible new stadium that opened this year, part of a project that includes shops, field-view condos, hotel and a park, check it out(scroll down a bit):

I... don't think "memorialized" is the right word.

I thought the Sox had issued a press release: "Next Statue at U.S. Cellular Field to be of A.J. Pierzynski...and Nine Feet Tall!"

I was thrilled.

It would probably be a bit more of an honor, too, if there wasn't also a Latroy Hawkins plan. Though he did have the best season by a FW pitcher - 15 wins, 2.06 ERA in '93, I still would've gone with Corey Koskie.

I guees it's another slow day here at WSI.

Living a majority of my life in Ft. Wayne, I just wanted to say thanks for starting a thread and making mention of the city (it doesn't happen everyday -- unless there's a Pistons history discussion).

I'm mostly responding because I'm going to see a game in the new stadium this weekend and I've heard it's pretty awesome... can't wait. According to some I've talked to, if anyone has the "pleasure" of being in Ft. Wayne anytime during the summer, it's recommended you stop in to see a game. Apparently, the tickets are reasonably priced for minor league baseball (considering it's a brand new stadium).

I live in Fort Wayne too. I haven't been to the new stadium yet, but it looks great on TV. Heck of a lot better than their last stadium, which was a dump.

It's a stretch to call the old one a "stadium"

I'm gonna check out the new stadium some time this summer. Anyone here been there yet?

Seriously, it might be a good idea to change the thread title. "Memorialized" means that the person being honored is dead (think Memorial Day or the Lincoln Memorial). I'd guess the OP meant "immortalized", which makes more sense in this context.

Here is a video of my girlfriend's father giving a tour of the new park in Ft. Wayne: http://fwnextweb1.fortwayne.com/ns/video/parkview_stadium/

I really enjoyed when he takes a jab at the Red Sox fans... :D:

I totally thought AJ had died when I saw that title! :o: I was really sad till I started reading. :D:

Sorry for the thread title controversy, but one definition of memorialize is "to recognize meritorious service". If I had known the impact, I would have chosen another word.

Every once in a while, I find myself in Fort Wayne. At some point, I will have to check out this ballpark. It looks terrific.
