Sorry if this has been posted before. I don't watch all the games, and I'm 900 miles from The Cell.

Did the Sox raise a banner for 2008? How are all the banners configured now? Anyone got a pic of all the banners now at the Cell?

Yep. They had one for 1983, 2000, etc. I *assume* there is a 2008 one, I just don't remember any ceremony on opening day?

And, I'm curious what got moved around, where its at, etc.

There is an additional flag for 2008 on the large Division Championship banner in right center field. There wasn't a big ceremony, but they briefly showed it on the jumbotron right before the pregame video.

In my opinion, they handled it perfectly.

I wasn't there, but appearently there wasn't any ceremony or anything (although there WAS a thread discussing this very question). I haven't seen any clear pictures of the updated one, but I suspect it looks a lot like this with "2008" added at the top:

They haven't used the little white flags since 2005. All on big banners now (and now they have little flags with past Sox logos).

Ahhh... I see now. Thanks, all.

Hope to get to a game this year if I can swing the flight, etc.

I know its kinda nitpicky but on that division title banner they should maybe use the logo from the team that year. Meaning instead of today's olde english silver and black "sox" it would be cooler if it had the atari logo for the '83 champs. just my opinion. i guess all the other division champs have worn the current uniforms. man, the sox have been pretty succesful with 4 div titles since '93. it must've been pretty lean between '59 and '83.

I've always thought the exact same thing (and they should on the American League champs, too). I hoped they might do that this year, but I guess not. It just makes no sense, since they have the correct logos on the World Series banners.

It was pretty lean between 1919 and 1959.

It was pretty lean between 1919 and 1959.

Ain't that the sad truth.

I'm sure that like myself, many of us learned from our fathers and grandfathers who were fans during that dark time as to what it means to be a true fan.

And while '59 - '83 wasn't great, most forget that the Sox were contenders most of the 60's and I can personally attest that despite no playoff appearances, the mid to late 1970's White Sox were an awful lot of fun, thanks mostly to Mr Veeck and Mr. Caray, along with a few iconic players. I wouldn't have traded away the Sox to be a fan of any other team at that time...

I heartily second that. the 1977 team is still among my favorite Sox teams ever. I still miss old Comiskey mainly because of that team.
