Sheehan picked the Sox as the 27th best team in baseball.

And I will be doing my duty and badgering him about that as often as I can.

To no one's suprise, he picked the As 8th, The Indians 11th and the RedSox to win 102 games.

The A's are probably the 27th best team in baseball.
The Indians will finish 3rd in the A.L. Central.
The Red Sox will win the wild card.

And, the White Sox will win the A.L. Central.

This will surely impact the season, not to mention the irreparable damage to the players themselves.

Yes.
We're 4th in the Central concensus BP pick.

I believe he's the "professional" who wrote and published that 'letter' to Ozzie and Sox fans after getting it right in 2007 (without of course mentioning all the other times the Sox made BP look like dung...)

Class guy there, real "professional journalist..."

Joe Sheehan's opinions are about as informed and worth as much consideration as Ronnie Woo Woo's thoughts on international tariff rates.

Snarky comments aside, I don't think even Sheehan would call himself a journalist.

with the offense so far today and the last 2 days... I'm surprised they don't reconsider us for 30th.

Anybody who ranks the A's inside the top 10 needs to have their head examined. That's ridiculous.

Or personal hygeine.

Or baseball, for that matter.

These guys are no better than the guy at the corner bar who has an opinion about everything and cites "facts" to support their position. Guys like Sheehan deserve a tip of the cap for being able to fool someone into paying them to spout their views, but that's all the credit these guys deserve.

Let's watch the games and see how it plays out.

27 is low but the Sox haven't proved they should be higher. That said, the A's being that high makes this guys opinion not matter.

BP may have predicted our record correctly in 2007, but for all the wrong reasons. IIRC, they said our offense would be good, but that our starting pitching would be our downfall. Instead, the offense was awful and the starting pitching was our biggest strength - even though it wasn't great.

The starting pitching was pretty good in 2007. Put the 2007 rotation with the 2006 offense, and that team contends for the World Series. In addition to the bad offense in 2007, the bullpen was atrocious (other than Jenks). I think the bullpen blew 18 leads in the 7th inning or later.

Frater:

You are correct with the bullpen stat.
