I was very happy to get the W but couldn't have been more upset at the lack of a banner ceremony for the division title. I know in years past we raised a flag on the flagpole(2000) and then we had the banners after the WS, but to have nothing today really was a big mistake by the Sox. I'm surprised someone else hadn't posted about this already. Maybe I'm just too old school, but a division title is still worth celebrating IMO

It's still nice to see the "2008" on the division banner though.

I liked it.

This organization expects to win division titles now. Add the number to the flag and move on.

I think its a good sign. Its saying a Division Championship is not enough.

I feel the same. Let's keep adding those years to the banner and move on. Celelbrations should be reserved for bigger things.

I agree, win the pennant now we can celebrate a banner add-on.

After 2005, anything but a World Series flag seems weak.

Saying that, I would love to raise a 163 flag during the Twins series.

Agreed. Something tells me the Yankees and Braves didn't have ceremonies for their division titles. After 2005, it just seems wrong to be celebrating a division title with a big ceremony. Also, we don't really use flags anymore to mark our division titles anymore. We use banners which are more dramatic to unveil with a curtain. I think we can all agree that having a curtain blocking the banner a la Opening Day '06 for last year's division title would be a little weak.

Make sure you put a big asterisk next to it.

The 1983 A.L. West banner was raised the day after the Sox clinched.

I was at that game. Mike Squires raised the flag but if i remember correctly we hadnt won even a division in decades back then. So it had a purpose.

Could they have done something. Sure Maybe zoomed the camera in on the banner during the intros or something but a ceremony would have been kind of weak considering the last ceremony we had.

I think we should raise a flag with a guy flipping a coin.
