I know our Sox don't kick the season off til Tuesday, but I figure there's a lot of other MLB action to discuss.

I'm looking foward to laying on the couch and absorbing all the action I can in the next few days, including tonight's Braves/Phils tilt.

Here's to a great start to the season! :gulp:

Deadspin has had some great comments realted to Joe Morgan and Steve Phillips tonight.

My favorite: "I think I like it best when Joe trails off midsentence. It means that whatever he says is only half as stupid as it could be."

It hasn't been an hour. They started late because of rain in Cincy, so first pitch wasn't until about 12:30.

After watching a few innings of Santana vs Cinci over lunch, I am not unhappy that we don't have to face him 4+ times this year.

Please don't accuse me of overreacting to one inning - I am not. I have been saying this all offseason.

Cleveland Sucks.

I have virtually no fear of this ballclub. The top 4 in their order are nice - but past that, I fear very little. The back half of their rotation is blowrific. And their pen doesn't scare me much either.

I still see this as a 2 horse race between the Sox and the Twins...

I was gonna post about this. That has to be the worst introduction I've ever seen. Why is everyone introduced as "Mr.?" Why did Ryan Franklin not receive a "Mr." before his name? Why do the fans need to be prompted to give a warm introduction to new Cardinals? What's with that music...I can't stop humming it.

The Orioles are introducing players by having them run out from center field on an orange carpet now with people holding Orioles flags every few feet on either side of the carpet. :?:

I hope the Sox do something normal tomorrow.

He actually may already be my most hated Twin of all-time. Theres the obvious reasons but theres something about that piece of **** that just Grinds my Gears.

He is a cocky arrgoant POS. Wasn't he leading the celebration in that last game of the Series from Hell at the Garbage Dome last year?

However, he shouldn't be too cocky, as he's the player that allowed Paul Konerko to hit a triple. I was at that game, and Gomez misplayed that drive and let it sail over his head. That should be humbling to anyone, especially an overhyped rookie who can't get enough of himself.

I can't see the game, but looking at the accounts, I would say the Twins haven't been playing well at home. There was an idiotic sacrifice by Span while down by the run (if it was indeed a sacrifice ordered from the bench and not just scored as such to boost his batting average), and twice the Twins failed to score runners from second on hits, which last season people seemed to believe was only something the White Sox did.

Average with RISP is deceiving when the R IS is at second and doesn't score on a hit. Tonight the Twins have had two hits in two at bats with three runners in scoring position resulting in one RBI. They could be hitting .400 w/RISP tonight (I didn't count the failures) and still have a frustrating night.

Last season before Alexei Ramirez hit a grand slam in Oakland, the message board showed his average and hits/at bats with runners in scoring postion. It also showed he had fewer RBIs w/RISP than hits -- and he had already had a couple of grand slams at tht point.

I wasn't expecting the Tigers game to be so close.

Cleveland Sucks.

I have virtually no fear of this ballclub. The top 4 in their order are nice - but past that, I fear very little. The back half of their rotation is blowrific. And their pen doesn't scare me much either.

Some Giants stuff (game is only in the bottom of the 5th):

Tim Lincecum becomes the latest ace to have a rough start to the season. He lasted only 3 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5. He just didn't have that great curveball going.

Aaron Rowand hit his first HR of the season on a hanging slider.

I was watching the Giants introductions. Jon Miller introduced Uribe with a line that went something like - "One of the newest Giants, he won a World Series ring 4 years ago..." Then after he finished the intro, but before he moved on to the next player, he said "OOO" and the crowd responded "rrriiibe." I thought that was kinda cool. Uribe is not a starter, hasn't had an at-bat for them yet, and they're already giving him the chant.

I noticed the same thing about Lincecum. He was definitely erratic. It was a privilege to watch him last year at AT&T. He threw 130 pitches against the Rox.

Rowand's stats were not that impressive last year, but then again, the Giants don't have any punch. I really hated on Uribe during his time here, but he had the knack for big hits and plays, like Tyrus Thomas.
