Damn, I was hoping the Twins or Tigers signed him. We hit him really well!

Maybe he can throw BP for Konerko who's 5 for 6 off him with 4 HRs.

Hopefully the Sox minor league affiliate can do something about Jimmy's horrible ERA. Good grief...obviously the Royals a) either didn't care or 2) is this guy really that horrible a pitcher? and 3) was this a good deal for the Sox to pick this guy up? Either way, I guess we'll find out.

He has a good lefty arm, so teams will continue to take chances on him.

If someone can get him to throw good strikes, he could start or relieve.

Or he could spend the season keeping our other KC star with a great arm but no location company in the bullpen

Wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen, but I bet we end up seeing him by the end of the year.

He was hurt parts of last season and Hillman misused him a bit by trying to make him more than a lefty specialist. Right handed hitters lit him up but he was very effective against lefties (.200/.246/.323 in 69 plate appearances). I think it's a good depth move.

It's nice to see that Frankie Muniz has been able to find work since Malcolm in the Middle was cancelled.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say we'll be hating on this guy by the end of the year.

When he was in the Royals starting rotation, I remember a painful MLB.com headline that read "Jimmy Gobble Eats Cleveland's World" after he got a W against the Indians.

I don't think he's any good, but I love that name.

Too bad former Tigers pitching coach Bob Cluck isn't in Charlotte. Then we could have Cluck visiting the mound to talk to Gobble.

Everytime gobble came into the game, I knew we'd come back to tie or win. Why sign him?

Seems like every former Sox killer who would eventually come to play for us (i.e. David Wells, Billy Koch, Roberto Alomar, Mike MacDougal, etc.) ended up sucking ass. Maybe Kenny's hoping for the opposite effect with Gobble...:dunno:

I'm still baffled as to why the Sox would take a chance on this guy...he was horrible in KC. :?: I'm not real thrilled about this guy and his 5+ ERA.

I hear Jermaine Dye and AJ are pretty good.

You know us typical Sox fans, always fixated on the negative. I stand corrected.

Didn't Javier Vazquez dominate the Sox in a few starts with the Expos, Yankees, and Diamondbacks before coming here?

And exactly how much damage will he do to the Sox hanging out in Charlotte?

Seems like a nothing move to me. If the Sox get lucky and catch lightning in a bottle, then great, if not, no harm. :dunno:
