I'm sure not happy with the line-up the new scoreboard shows......

Too many DH's, A.J leading off, and Wise in CF. Not good.....

I'm glad you did start this thread. I don't go in the renovations thread to check the updates so I would have never seen them. Thank you!

They probably haven't painted the new ones yet. I went to something the Sox had to show off the club level once it was renovated. It was about a week before opening day. There were workers there putting up the new signs.

Too early to say, I think. I remember from previous years that they usually change the ads very last minute. Like, that's last year's car ad, they change every year, and I'm sure the Pepsi ad will change since they have a new logo.

I do not understand why there is such a thick border at all! The screen makes up about 60% of the size of the entire board!

I find that interesting as well. It looks like the actual screen size is the same size as the CF main scoreboard.

More than likely it's reserved for premium ad space. People's eyes are going to be on that board a lot.

What ad space? There isn't much real space for ads around the perimeter anyhow. The only "ad" I can think of is the "WhiteWay" words they have at its bottom. They could've easily used the entire board space for the screen and added an extension hanging down from the board for "WhiteWay" to make their mark. It would've been far more eye-catching as well.

Having 40% of that board as a border is incredibly ludicrous in my book.

Also, Motorola said they were pulling their ad from the Diamond Vision board at the risk of cutting ten jobs. The ads should be ready by Opening Day.

I think 40% is a bit of a stretch. In any case, I'm sure it comes down to money. A smaller board is cheaper, and who knows what their budget was? Sure, bigger is better, but new board is better than no new board.

40% is a stretch to say the least, but you can't envision ribbon-style ads surrounding that?

I used a ruler and wrote a ratio of the area of the screen to the area of the entire board, and 40% is a very good estimate.

I'm just happe we are getting something when we weren't expected to get a new board.

Let's all just be happy.

I can't imagine that would look very good, and I can't imagine that would be cheaper than just a bigger board to begin with. Besides, just look to center for proof that the Sox have no problem surrounding videoboards with big green borders.

I see what you're saying. Hopefully you're right and it stays clean of ads.

Nothing scares me more than a teacher with a ruler. Except the lineup on that scoreboard. Can't wait to see how it looks Monday!

Very very cool. A drastic improvement. It also gives those who can't see the CF video board too well another place to see highlights, etc.

Don't pay much attention to Fenway games but where is there a look-a-like scoreboard in Fenway to this one? Is it their REAL scoreboard or a side one like we just put up at Comiskey?
