I assume most people concluded that already though.

Woohoo! I'm a huge fan, I've been following him since early in his career. Let's hope he's named the Opening Day lead off hitter next.

Nothing about leading off in the 20 word article.

Well, that's one piece of the puzzle. I hope he can lead off and that he can be successful at it.

I'm happy for him. I like his character and makeup. I hope he can produce.

Any word on what's going to become of Lillibridge or Nix?

I've got to think Lillibridge is going to get a bench spot and Nix will get a ticket to Charlotte.

Yeah, Lillibridge will probably be on the bench, and play up the middle including some CF. Nix will probably start the season on the DL, and then they have to make a decision because I think he's out of options.

Congrats to Chris. He's worked hard for the opportunity and he's earned the chance this spring.

Here's to a good year for our new second baseman!

I had alot of hope for Lillibridge, but he looks so terrible at the plate. Does he still have more strikeouts than hits?

Edit: Also, there is a different piece up saying Getz won the starting job and that Marquez will be in a relief role (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/chi-22-white-sox-bits-chicago-mar22,0,552086.story).

Not sure if that warrants another thread.

On the MLBNet show tonight they said that the Sox don't want to give Getz the pressure of leadoff yet.

Pretty much a no-brainer. Getz has outplayed Lillibridge, and Nix has been hurt for most of the spring.

For what it's worth, I think that show was taped a couple days ago.

Yeah, I cringe at the thought of anyone else leading off on opening though. I think we have to see how he hits consistently in the majors first though. Arg we're in a pickle.

I don't think they have much of a choice. They may say that now, but after a week or so of little to no production from the spot, they will give him the opportunity.

There's also an article on whitesox.com in which Getz says he feels comfortable leading off and would prefer to do it.

He seems to want the pressure. I think he will do fine if given the opportunity.

At the same time, are they saying Owens will be able to handle the pressure? C'mon!

I had heard on the update while listening to ESPN radio the other day that Ozzie was going to look at Anderson, Fields and Getz in the leadoff roll. Only one of those guys makes sense, but it almost sounds like he's giving up on Owens and Wise, if that's true.

In the same breath they said Anderson might be given a shot as well...

If anyone doesn't need extra offensive pressure it is Anderson...
