While looking through the upcoming DVD releases at Digital Bits, I discovered that SHOUT FACTORY is releasing a new White Sox DVD on June 23 called "White Sox Memories: the Greatest Moments in Chicago White Sox History".

No cover art yet, but here's the best writeup I've come across (from the SHOUT FACTORY site): http://www.shoutfactorystore.com/prod.aspx?pfid=5257009&sid=1A1B613694AE448B8123E2D77C09B0F3

I heard "White Sox DVD" and was on board immediately. The summary makes it sound all the more appealing. I'll look into buying it for sure.

I hope it is similar to The Complete History of the Chicago Bears....that DVD rocks...

I wonder if it will be like the old VHS release "White Sox: A Visual History". I still have that tape and watch it from time to time.

We need some Blu Ray DVD's.I'm sure a regular DVD will be fine. It's not like the source material will be hi-def to start with. Putting grainy old black and white kinescopes on BluRay will not improve it.

I wonder if this is something officially sanctioned by the Sox themselves?

Am curious what type of footage this organization was able to get since MLB is so provincial in regards to highlights etc.

LipFor the money, I rolled the dice and ordered one.

Besides, I'm thinking that with all the videos they have for different teams, with official logos on the front, that MLB would have already sued them if they weren't licensed. It's hard to tell with the size of the pictures, but the jackets look like they have the MLB logo on them.

Just FYI, my friend Bob Grim of the Sox was kind enough to respond to my question about this DVD.

We did not sanction this DVD. However, when MLB contacted us (me) about doing this, we told them we were not interested due to how the deal was structured. I ended up helping them a bit, but it is not something we did. MLB Productions wrote and produced the video. I did help proof some of the written material as well as approve the cover.

It looks like since MLB had some input into this, that it look legit.

That was the video narrated by Jean Shepard that was done after the 1986 season.

SHOUT FACTORY also does the World Series higlight DVDs (including our 2005 DVD) and they have done an outstanding job with their releases thus far, so I'm pretty excited about this. They're also doing an amazing job with their TV series box sets (Mr. Belvedere seasons 1 and 2 was released yesterday, and among their upcoming releases are the complete first seasons of ROOM 222 and RHODA :bandance::bandance::bandance:).
