Looks like Pudge signed a one year deal with the Stros:

I read a blog on CBS Sports in which Ed Wade supposedly flipped out when he was asked if HOU would try to sign I-Roid.

Either it was an act, or old Ed needs to tighten the loose lips in the organization.

Does he look like he's gained back some weight to anyone else?

Well, they have massive egg on their faces now. Well, more so than usual.

They were too broke to offer Randy Wolf a decent deal, too broke to keep Wigginton, but now they have enough to sign Ivan Rodriguez.

But, hey let's be honest. I-Rod is a massive improvement over the other catching candidates, and the Astros still have a pretty good lineup. But they're yet 1-2 starters away from real contention.

Something tells me this club won't amount to anything until meddling McLane sells the team and the new guy lets the baseball guys do their jobs.

Well Houston is the one team that I-Rod would be an offensive upgrade for...

not that he's that much better than Brad Asmus at this point in his career.

Ausmus is with the Dodgers now. Houston's choice at catcher before signing I-Rod was Towles, Gimenez and Palmisano. Total no brainer.

Yeah, I had known that Asmus was gone, I was using him as an example because of his great rep as a defender with no bat.
