It appears Manny and Orlando Cabrera have clauses in their contracts restricting their clubs from offering arbitration, if they achieve type-A status. Not too big of a deal for the Dodgers, but it's very interesting from the A's standpoint. They only gave up their secong round pick to get him, but if he has a decent season, they won't be receiving any compensation back.

It makes me think the A's believe they will compete for the division this year, or they plan on dumping several of these guys mid-year.(I really can't see them competing with their current rotation)
