No reason not to bring him in?

I think that Oil Can was with the Sox for a very short while, at least technically. If I remember correctly, he was a member of the replacement player team the Sox put together back when MLB was trying to break the union in one of their labor disputes back in the 80's, I think.

I wonder if the MLBPA would still hold that against him if this comeback attempt should pan out.

I thought that was in 1995.

Not very hard for an ex-Boston player to get his name in the paper.

Get it done, Kenny!

Did he just wake up one day and think that? He hasn't pitched in 18 years. Even when he was at playing age, Boyd only had one season where his ERA was under four. Cool nickname though.

I just hope this doesn't affect his hall of fame chances.

Surprised it wasn't Fenway that broke the story.

Then Julio Franco will probably try to make it back in his mid 50's to outlast Satchel Page.

This was just on the MLB channel last night. Paige came back to pitch a few innings (scoreless, in fact) for the Kansas City A's in 1965. Paige's real age was always in question, but most people believe he was 59 years old at the time.

Well, there are some who think el Duque and Contreras are that old given the reliability of Cuban birth records......

Won't happen. We can't afford him. Remember what Kenny said, "no more free agents."

Sorry Boyd. Pick up your oil can and get your ass out of here.
