If he accepts the deal, I think it's a good move for the Giants, especially if they sign Manny also. Giants could win that lousy division this season.

If he turns down the deal, he's a fool. He's not going to get any more than a one year deal and unless he can go a whole year without significant time on the DL, I don't know if he'll ever get another multi-year deal.

The Giants: Reuniting the 2005 team, one player at a time.

Take it, Joe. Don't make me have to cheer against you on the Twins.

I hope he takes this offer and has a solid season.

Plus, it wouldn't pain me to root for the Giants.

Go for it Joe! If Crede goes to Minnesota and plays on that pool table of a field, his back will flare up in no time. It makes mine hurt just thinking about it. Plus, like it's been mentioned, we won't have to pull against him.

PS: He can go to Wrigley and smack the Cubs around from time to time.

I predict they'll have him signed by the end of the week.

Thank you Giants! Whew... I was dreading having to watch Crede bounce back or something and crush the ball every time he comes to Chicago!

Although I guess we haven't dodged the bullet yet...at least he was offered a contract. That's better than a lot of free agents can say.

It would be beyond painful to see Crede in a Twins uniform. Here's hoping he goes to San Fran.

Monday I heard Joe Crede being discussed on San Francisco radio. The belief is that Aaron Rowand has been a huge Crede booster with the Giants management. If that is the case, and it probably is, Rowand should be a huge Giants booster with Crede.

The alternative for the Giants to signing Crede to a one-year contract that protects the team in the event Crede has less than a full season left in him doesn't seem to be a winning proposition.

The guys on the radio seemed to believe Crede was the MVP of the 2005 World Series. Maybe you could argue that he should have been. Certainly he had a great Series, but I get the feeling that Crede will sign and Giants fans will expect too much from him. Crede, of course, hit a home run and went three-for-seven in his two starts in San Francisco last May.

I highly doubt it.

Rumor has it the Giants are offering around half his $7M asking price, and since the Twins are also interested, as other teams may be, Boras will play them against each other and try to get as close to that $7M as possible, recession or Rowand be damned.

Assuming he can get on the field and STAY on the field with his back that is.

It seems like the Phillies and Giants love their players from the 2005 White Sox.

By making errors and flying out in the infield? That is what I remember the last couple years.

It would be nice if Crede were to play here. I might attend my first game in Yuppie Giants Stadium, now that Barroids is gone. Boras is a barrier to Joe signing any contract though, anything could happen, or not, which would be unfortunate for Joe. Hope your back's healthy again Joe, you were our consensus MVP for '05 WS.
