Found this on another White Sox site. I love the sound of his bat and the very end when he goes the other way on an outside pitch. Give me your opinions on his chances to make the ball club.

We won't know how close he is until we see him against live pitching, but damn, that is a big boy.

Agreed, he's a monster. I can't wait to see this kid in Spring Training.

As long as he can hit a major league breaking ball, he should be a good one. I think that, much like Alexei, he'll be able to crush a fastball. Hopefully Alexei can help him a bit with that, however he still has his troubles with breaking balls.

Wow, really? The full face-on shot at about 1:11 is pretty cool. He looks incredibly strong.

Do you have to rain on people's parade in every single thread?

Seriously, say one positive thing about the White Sox...anything.

He's going to look great in a White Sox uniform. I know that it's just batting practice, but there is nothing wrong with getting enthusiastic about a young player with much raw talent. We'll see how Viciedo does in ST - my guess is that he will be exciting to watch, and who knows where things could go from there.

They've done a good job amassing a core of young players (Ramirez, Quentin, Danks, Floyd, Viciedo) who are cost controlled and quality ballplayers.

Sorry. I don't plan on jumping out of my chair over a batting practice video. Yes, he looks slim -- but I'd like to see him hitting something other than batting practice before I freak out over him.

Unfortunately, the first week of February there is not a hell of alot else to see. So we're left to say, "damn the kid looked good in the cage!"

No one even said that. Most of the comments were about how he is a beast of a human being.

I'd like to see some more BP videos from this angle during spring training. Definitely a cool angle.

He has a very quiet approach with his lower half - almost as quiet as former Royal Mike Sweeney. I like it.

what size bat does he use, a Frank Thomas special?

That was the first thing that jumped out at me: that looked like a mighty big bat he was using.

Certainly this is reason for optimism - if one needs reason. If one is hateful of optimism, it's another thing to criticize.

Either way - I look forward to seeing Viciedo in Arizona.

If Dayan lives up to his hype, I'd call him The Hammer and Alexei The Sickle.

It may just be me, and I know that many players that have ended up producing squat looked like a stud, but something about his overall build screams star. He's just built very solid. Reminds me of Carlos Lee.

Like other people have written, though, it's all going to come down to whether or not he can do something with a changeup or breaking ball. Here's to hoping!

If I remember CLee was at 3B when he came up to the majors and they moved him to LF... I'd take a clone of CLee, no doubt!

It seems like the well-built flame-outs like Lyle Mouton struggle to offset their defensive liabilities with much power and run production. Anything even close to Carlos Lee-type numbers will be great.

More hitting ability then Alexei???

That is a pretty bold statement for someone to make about a kid that hasn't seen major league pitching yet. However, this kid does sound to be really special. Hopefully he develops well with the Sox, and does a good job taking over the hot corner.

I totally agree with you on the Carlos Lee comparison. I thought the same thing when I saw his stance. He looks like he could be a monster for us.

If he can't hit the curveball, maybe Jobu can help! :redneck

I like that after Jose took Alexei under his wing, now Alexei is taking Dayan under his wing down in Florida this offseason. I think it is huge to have someone they can trust and relate to in his new country.

Keep the cuban line moving...more the merrier.
