Tigers, Lyons, and Wolf, OH MY!

Brandon Lyons to Tigers (http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090122&content_id=3764352&vkey=hotstove2008&fext=.jsp)

Randy Wolf to Dodgers (http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090123&content_id=3766460&vkey=hotstove2008&fext=.jsp)

The funny thing about Wolf's deal is that reportedly is less than the 3 years, $28mill he turned down from the Astros.

Hmm, a 4.70 ERA in the NL West. I think the AL Central should greet him nicely this summer.

Lyon was on the hot seat for almost the entire 2008 season in Arizona. I can't wait to see him join the meltdown group in Detroit.

And if the Tigers could then coax former reliever Doug Bair out of retirement -- [all together] "Lyons, and Tigers and Bair (Oh My). "

The Tigers pen was a mess last year - and contributed significantly to their suckage. (that alone was not the problem - but it was a piece to it)

Adding a reliever from the NL who had a 4.70/1.48 won't help.

Adding a reliver from the NL who had a 2.68/1.24 will help.

Did they add 08 Lyon, or 07 Lyon? That's the question. Either way - I don't see the Tigers finishing any better than 3rd in this division. In fact, I'd bet they finish worse than 3rd and wouldn't be surprised if they repeat their last place finish from 2008.
