The Score reported just now that the Sox are seriously looking at Bartolo.

And Freddy of course, though there is already a thread on that.

Will people ever get over 2003?

A 2003 reunion is not going to happen. Get over it.

No way we need an ace, I would trade Kip and Fogg for Todd Ritchie.

All I know is, if Colon is signed, that's trouble for Alexei. How's he going to eat?

Why not? Colon is another arm. He will come cheaply. Having him around is better than relying on Jeff Marquez.

roffles.

I do not see the harm in getting him in, could provide some experienced backup if he's cheap,

I was happy to join in making jokes, but I'd rather have Colon than Jeff Marquez.

Looking that he had that bad 6+ ERA season.... how good is this guy? I starting watching the Sox in 05' and didn't care about any other players till last year... so I don't really know. :P

This offseason for the Sox so far looks like they are going back to a small market mentality.
Say it ain't so KW.

I really don't think that Colon has much left, although if the Sox sign him I would be glad to be proven wrong. If we insist on taking chances on older, injury-prone vets, I'd rather bring back Freddy.

That near $100 million payroll just screams Pittsburgh Pirates.

The way the sox are throwing nickels around like man-hole covers these days, I have to trust that they would not give any money to a player that had no shot at playing. They would know more about his health and velocity than me, so if it happens, I will keep my fingers crossed.

Colon could give us what El Duque gave us in 2005.

So why not.

If he's a 5th starter plan where he pitches every 7 days and gets skipped as often as possible, I say yes.

If the Sox are thinking 200+ innings from him..... please turn the page.

He can definety be a Javy replacement if he is anything near his better seasons. :D: His injury last year actually might do him some good by giving him time to train on other thing... maybe he may do better than Javy. I don't care about the past, I think they signed him for a reason. :P I would still rather they have signed Sheets though.

The fact that he thinks we lost Javy to free agency makes me wary.

I'm not sure what the terms of the deal are, but, if we were going to get an injury prone pitcher with a nice upside, I'd rather get Sheets. We'll see, but I'd be surprised if Colon throws more than 150 innings. Hope I'm wrong.

This must be a very low base salary considering we didnt even throw our hat into the Penny sweepstakes.
