Wasn't he just elected to the HOF? Or,did he fall short in the voting? I thought he'd be a certain first ballot inductee.

It boggles my mind. Much like people continuing to sign Mike Hampton.

Cool, they were good in 2003. Sweet. Why the hell are you going to pay these people millions when you have younger players sitting in your farm system getting paid $250,000 that I know are better than either Prior or Hampton.

No, you're thinking of Kerry Wood. He in fact became the only player to be elected to the Hall of Fame while still playing, and also has his own wing, which they added on in either 2002 or 2003. Did you know that he struck out 20 guys in a game once in 1998 ?

Prior though, he does have alot of potential. It'll be interesting to see how his career takes off. I hear he has perfect mechanics.

Prior signed with the Padres (http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/team/71611) as a free agent prior to the 2008 seasonHeheheh... made me chuckle. I'm sorry. They could've easily gone with before.

Low-risk move for the Padres, really. If Prior somehow magically regains his form (or most of it), he'd be a bargain. If he continues to be injured or otherwise not ML-ready, the Pads really aren't out anything.

Prior was the right guy. He was elected to the Hall the minute after he was drafted by the Cubs.

When you go 18-3 with a sub-3 ERA one year, any team will take a chance on you because they know you have the stuff. Once he's healthy again, then people will stop giving the guy a job. Mainly because he won't be all that good once he's back.
