I'd really hate to see that.

Nice pick up...as long as he can possibly stay healthy. Woulda been nice to see him here but oh well.

I would have loved to see him with our Sox. The Rays have to feel a bit spurned...after all the time, money spent with him. He now goes to one of their main division rivals.

He's from that area, so it makes sense.

But the Sox really blew this one, he would've made a great addition to the team, I'd be interested to see the money he commands.

Baldelli is from Rhode Island, and in fact has already been inducted into the Rhode Island Baseball Hall of Fame.

It absolutely made sense for him to go there. I was just hoping the Sox could swoop in and grab him because he'd be extremely valuable at CF for us especially considering he's not even guaranteed a starting gig with the Red Sox with Drew, Bay and Ellsbury.

So who's left on the market now?

They get a real ballplayer for their 4th outfielder.
We get Dewayne Wise.

They also picked up Mark Kotsay yesterday.

That "real ballplayer" has only played 155 games in the past three years combined.

I like Baldelli and would have gladly welcomed him here, but let's not pretend like he's going to be in Cooperstown one day.

How do you know where his family vacations might take him?

Technically "re-signed" him.

Cooperstown?
I was comparing him to Ozzie's main man, Dewayne Wise.

The only possible mistake I saw with your statement was 4th outfielder. He may, in fact, be the 3rd OF.

There is no way he hurdles JD Drew, Jason Bay or Jacoby Ellsbury.

Wise may be our 3rd outfielder too, unfortunately.

Anyway, Boston has 4 major league outfielders. We have 2.5 outfielders. (.5 awarded to Anderson)

Thats my point. Wise is likely to be penciled in at 3, if Owens isn't already.
