1 year deal. 8 million base salary, with 5 million in incentives.
Nice. We'll get to see this more often.

The Giants starting 5 have a chance to be very, very good if Zito gets his head out of his ass, Cain and Sanchez continue to improve, Randy has a decent (12-12, 4.50) year, and Lincecum comes close to his 2008 numbers.

I have never seen that before. Pretty weird. Neat though.

Good to see the Giants continue to get younger.

The Giants do love their players over the age of 35 don't they? The Aaron Rowand signing last year was practically a youth movement for them! Randy Johnson would be a good final arm for a contending team that is one starter away not a terrible Giants team that needs an injection of youth in the worst way. Another head scratcher for the Giants.

If you're #1 objective is to get to 300 wins, why would you go to SF? That offense is TERRIBLE. He'll probably still get 300, but he's gonna have a ****load of no-decisions as well...

Well, when the Giants are out of it at the All Star Break, they'll trade him for prospects to a contender and he'll have a better shot at racking up wins. However, this is assuming that old man can make it through the season healthy.

Not if Bob Howry has anything to say about that.

The funniest part to me was that this was AGAINST the Giants.

Don't look now, but the Giants could have a pretty decent rotation, and the NL West has gotten weaker.

Very few rotations have had 3 Cy Young award winners, but Johnson is probably going to have a little less stuff and who knows what is going on with Zito. Linecum is a stud though and if both Johnson and Zito can pitch at their potential, this could be a hugely improved rotation for the Giants.
I was hoping we'd consider signing Johnson, but since we're "going younger", as well as his desire to stay on the West Coast, it never would have happened.

It's funny to see everyone here back-tracking on Zito all of a sudden. A month ago nobody wanted him on their team, but now he's part of a formidable starting rotation.

Correct. They don't need to rebuild yet, as a near-500 record may win that division.
