Yankees today signed Red Sox backup catcher Kevin Cash to a one year deal worth 700K IF he makes the club.

Cash was Wakefield's personal catcher and with Tek not signed was technically Boston's #1 catcher.

I don't think that's really sticking it to the Sawx. If the Sawx wanted to retain him so badly, surely they could scrounge up more than $700k

Don't worry about the Yankees. All they've done the past few weeks is spend money. They haven't won a damn thing, yet.
