If I had Texeira on my team right now I would have no problem trading him for any of these players. First base is the easiest position to fill. Did I miss any players?

I'm not going through that whole list, but from first glance I would take Tex over at least half those players.

Greinke? Really?

I think a lot of your list has less value than Mark Texeira, but im not a MLB GM. Its the Yankees, you need to take the contract as a percentage of revenue in order to make a fair comparison. Using that thought process, I would be willing to guess that Konkero commands more as a percentage of Sox revenue than Texeira is of Yankees revenues.

A list of players that are as valuable or more valuable than Mark Texeira today:
According to whom? More valuable in what way? If I need a good First Baseman, CC Sabathia and Jake Peavy combined are not more valuable to me than Teixeira.

You didn't miss anybody and you put too many players on that list. Volquez? No way. Cliff Lee? Give me a few more seasons like this past one. There are a few others on that list that you completely overvalued. Is Tex worth 180 million? I don't know, that's for the front office minds to decide, but this post was essentially ranking players who would make more than Tex, there are not that many players who would.

Tex is worth 180M because someone agreed to the price. That is how you place a monetary value on a player.

More valuable in what way? Have you ever heard of something called a Most Valuable Player Award? Do you need that explained to you?

Please do. I eagerly await.

By the way, Peavy and Sabathia really suck at First.

I would like to call the value of the Most Valuable Player award into question.

The only reason you are saying they are more valuable is because a good amount of these guys haven't hit FA yet or they are playing good their team-friendly contract extensions. Once they get on the FA market, they'll be asking for similar big money contracts that Tex is.

There are at least 10 players on that list that clearly are not as valuable of a baseball player than Mark Texeira. Brian Roberts? Soto? Martin? McCann? Just because they are good hitting catchers doesn't automatically make them more valuable than Texeira. And the list of pitchers that still have to prove they are top of the line talent like Felix Hernandez, Zach Grienke. Doing good in one year when you've been in the league for a few doesn't mean anything yet. And I don't know if you know, but Justin Verlander was bad last year.

If you are mad that the Yankees are stockpiling free agents again, be mad about that but don't say stuff that isn't true.

I think you are EXTREMELY underrating Teixeira.
Soto? Kinsler? Greinke? Really? Where is Juan Uribe on that list?

I would love to get Hanley Ramirez here for an 8 year, $180 million deal. After he completes this 6 year, $70 million deal, he'll be thirty and, should he continue to play the way he has, will have a HUGE payday waiting for him when he's 30.

Can you imagine a Ramirez-Ramirez combination up the middle of the IF?

I think the REAL crime here, is not having Pujols at #1.

No, I honestly can't. Because we'd never shell out the dough to get Hanley.
