Christmas Eve at 7:00 pm on CSN, they are going to have a year in review type thing as well as showing the division clinching game. I saw a commercial for this the other day and just wanted to let everyone know.

A little off-topic, any word on any sort of 2008 season review DVD?

I would buy one in a heartbeat. 75 games at home this year and I would love to remember one of the most exciting seasons (2005 excepted) the Sox have had.

Nothing like a nightly heart attack at the ballpark washed down with beer and a kosher w/onions. I wonder how I rank with da superfans at this time, it's been about 20 years for those guys and one was up to a baker's dozen at that point, so it's gotta be close to what, 200?

Nope.

Boone Logan will be the one.

Ugh, stuff like this makes me wish I still lived in Illinois. Oh, and definitely sign me up for a 2008 DVD, this was a season to remember despite all that home-run-or-nothing jazz. Besides, home runs are fun

Contact Brooks for more information on what they may be doing with a 2008 DVD.

He said he'd let me know when one was ready to come out.

I never got to buy a 2000 DVD (or VHS at that point), and that team accomplished the same thing.

I saw a lot of fun games this season...I'd love to have some sort of video momento of it.

They've put out videos for the 1993 and 2000 seasons, so why not 2008?

Lip Man 1

They also put out videos for the 1983 and 1990 seasons (along with 1981, 1982, 1985, 1991, 1992, 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2005 seasons)

They did not for 1996 and 2006 and I don't know why.

I used to rent the 1993 VHS tape from the old Harwood Heights (maybe Norridge?) Library back when I was growing up. I loved it. I've never been able to find another copy on any medium. :(: It was probably my favorite tape to watch growing up, along with the official 1985 Bears tape my dad had and I think one of those Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tapes I got free from BK once.

If you can't catch it on Christmas Eve or don't want to wait til then, the tiebreaker is on iTunes along with Thome's 500th homer, 05 ALCS Game 2, and Buehrle's no hitter for two bucks per game. All in all, money well spent.

Wow, I never knew that (though you have probably mentioned it before). Where can one acquire these tapes? Ebay? Netflix? Blockbuster? The team?

A best of the season DVD would be great, even just 2 hrs or something with all the best tight games, and some of those stellar Danks/Floyd pitching performances early in the season, that monster period when The Q was getting a big hit every game, the back to back to back to back HR's as well as those 3 straight huge wins.

I think the less-great years were just issued directly from the team, done by the scoreboard video staff, I don't even know if any were in stores. I know 1993 VHS tapes were widely available, I have one. I recall seeing some of the other ones at past Soxfests (and nowhere else).

My parents got me a copy they found at a yard a year or two ago, it was still sealed and I enjoy watching it a lot as this was before my time (I was only five in '93). I had to dust off the VHS player to watch it.

If you have DirecTV you can get CSN and other sports channels fairly cheap. I get it, and it plays everything but the actual games of course. You need the expensive MLB Extra Innings package for that.

Don't get your hopes up on this one. I went to set my DVR for this and all
I can find on the schedule grid is a one hour 2008 Sox Rewind show. Nothing about the game. I thought this was unlikely given that it was broadcast on TBS.

Yeah, I think you might be right (although I don't think being on TBS has anything to do with it, because Comcast has rebroadcast games from other networks before). On the Comcast website, they mention the year in review thing, but nothing about showing any games - http://csnchicago.com/pages/new_landing_whitesox/?CSN-to-Air-Cubs-and-Sox-Year-in-Review-S=1&blockID=20935&feedID=621

Not the blackout game, but according to their website, CSN will replay the Sept. 28 game against Cleveland (Buehrle's win to force Game 162 vs. Detroit) on Christmas Day from noon-2:30 PM.

By far the best game I've ever attended. I was really excited about watching it on television.

Could it be that comcast does not have the rights to these games? I know that the Blackout game was broadcast on TBS as part of the postseason. I could be wrong, but I think that game 162 against Detroit might have been a WGN game.

I'm guessing that's the reason, but the ad for Comcast suggests they'll be replaying Game 163 against the Twins. :dunno:

Just sucks, I was psyched to relive that game... I had to remind myself to breathe several times, it was that intense.

Just so you know, they have the one game playoff "blackout" game on the itunes store. Yes it is $1.99, but I bought it so I can watch the whole game whenever I want to.

Anybody can have iTunes, even if you don't have an iPod. It's a free download. I just bought Buehrle's no-hitter for $1.99 a couple of weeks ago. It plays a little jumpy on the computer, but I've been told it looks better on an iPod. Not sure if it's possible to burn a copy to dvd though for the portable dvd player.
