Eh, he stepped it up at times, and sucked it up at times. I think that's worth 550k...

It would be sweet if we could sign Jenks to a 2yr/8MIL deal or something like that.

I would be fine with Wise coming back in a bench role if the Sox manager wasn't Ozzie Guillen.

I'm sure Wise will start 50 games next year.

Unless something unforeseen happens, I bet he won't even start half that.

Wise started at the end of the year because there were no other options.

Yeah, I was kind of joking when I said it.

At the same time, never underestimate Guillen's love for a crappy bench player with speed.

Oh and just for the record, I wanted Swisher in left at the end of the year.

Good value on the signing. He is a good situational pinch-runner and if he starts about 30 games, that should be fine.

How much more $$$ do you guys think Taveras will get?

I can't imagine we will be a player for Willy now.

Fair deal for a BENCH player.

And, if he wants to turn into Babe Ruth for a few days again next September, fine with me!

Haha...I think Jenks will be gunning for $8 million in arbitration...for this year. If we're going to sign him for two seasons, it would probably be around $20 million.

Why should a .290 obp player, .254 for his career, be on this team at all? He's a lousy bench player. He can't hit and he can't field.

It's Ozzie-ball, where Jerry Owens is better than Carlos Quentin.

And ridiculous.

Come on Williams, you know you can't give Guillen clown players like Owens and Wise - he actually thinks they're good hitters.

How many veteran left handed outfielders with zero pop do you want to carry?

Yep. He takes over the role of Timo Perez, who got exactly 50 starts in 2005. Kenny just can't give these toys to Ozzie because then Ozzie abuses them.

Great....expect 300+ at bats that Ozzie will give him.thats because we didnt have anyone fast....and he was platooning with JR in center cause swisher was in the dog house

Eh, he stepped it up at times, and sucked it up at times. I think that's worth 550k. Isn't that what Jenks made 2 years ago? As far a pop he's a little guy thats is fast that seems to avoid groin pulls. I think he's a very servicable platoon left hand hitting outfileder that hit at least one grand slam that won us a game and several more with his speed. He's not perfect.:?:

DaveFeelsRight

Well, if the results are the same, I'll take it.

Your 2009 starting CF for the Chicago White Sox.

Please no. His defense at the corners is ok, but I don't want to see another clown show in CF again this year, and that is what you will get with Wise.

I don't have a huge problem with the signing. Yea Ozzie will probably end up playing him too much, but bench guys always get a lot of time with Ozzie. The one thing I do like about Wise is he didn't seem to be an awful pinch hitter, he seemed like one of the only guys that I can remember in recent years that could come off the bench cold and get a hit once in awhile.

Agreed, I don't want this guy any where near the major league team.

I assume you mean team results because Timo sucked ass in 2005.

Well, the reason I asked is it says he started 35 games in the outfield and 1 at first base. I'm not a math major, but I don't think that equates to 50.

8 of those came in August when Pods was hurt.

I'm ok with this. Does this mean BA has no shot. At least Wise went down swinging against Tampa. This also might be the "good soldier" singing

Please no. His defense at the corners is ok

Except for his horrendus range to his right. Wise is the only guy that's ever made foul territory at the Cell look like Oakland Alameda County Coliseum.

It is absolutely absurd for Wise to be on this team. He provides nothing.

We could actually be pretty strong up the middle, with no loss offensively (from Wise or Owens) by playing Anderson.....instead, the Sox will play .290 obp hackers who can't field their position. Welcome to Ozzie-world, 2007 redux.

Yeah, let's instead play that .272 OBP, "hacker!" :bandance:

BTW, this is the second time you've made the same post in this thread, and probably about the fifth time overall.

I will say it's only 12/12, but your are correct. As the roster stands, there's no reason for Wise to be here. If we're rebuilding then lets give the spot to someone who actually has talent and if we're going "under the radar" to get a player that has talent then we should have cut his ass.

I wanna know what kind of contract will be offered to Jenks. Hopefully KW can work his bargain magic and get him for around 3.5MIL. But more than likely, it'll be closer to 5-5.5MIL.

And it looks like CIN just non-tendered Norris Hopper. I would have preferred him over Wise. Him and Reggie Willits are my little underachievers that could. Maaaaaaan........
