Well the 2009 Mets look one hell of a lot better than the 2008 Mets in a hurry and I am not a big fan of the Krod signing.

The Indians totally got owned in this deal. They didn't give up much, but they didn't get anything back either.

Giving up Gutierrez? *Facepalm*

For what they got back, you're right lol.

Considering the fact that he's a defensive god, this move is so perplexing.

I was just going to say and why did Cleveland get involved in this trade?

The fact that he's a bad hitter kind of evens it out though. He's probably a better hitter than BA will ever be, but he's nothing explosive. I guess the Indians ran out of patience with him.

Jeremy Reed is going to Queens!

They are about 1 (2 would be better) SP's away from being pretty damn dominant.

They should just contract the Mariners now that future Hall of Famer Jeremy Reed is gone.

The title of this thread should be "Reed to Mets in three team deal". Putz was obviously a throw-in.

NY sports headline writers are loving this.

Only Fuentes left for the Tigers?

Only Fuentes left for the Tigers?

That, or fliers on Hoffman or Chad Cordero. I heard the Cards are really after Fuentes hard. Plus, MIL needs a closer, too. Tradewise, the only guys that might be available would be Valverde and Street.

I read that the Cardinals are hot for Fuentes.
I had Fuentes going to the Brewers but now that they're saying they money they had set aside for CC will not be used on anyone else, I don't think that's going to happen.

wow, the Mets sure don't want to have another cave in their bullpen down the stretch, kudos's to Omar

it's also kind of funny how the mets signed k-rod, then the yankees signed cc, and right away the mets made this deal (which im sure took a while because it just looks complex). now expect the yankees to steal back the backpage of new york newspapers with the signing of burnett, lowe, or sheets today (thursday).

I'm wondering how Putz is going to react to not being a closer. My first guess would be that he isn't too happy with this move. This trade is strange.

His $5 million dollar means "you'll pitch where I tell you to pitch."

That doesn't mean he can't be unhappy from going to premier closer to set up man behind another premier closer.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. I go on vacation for a couple of days and 2 of the M's bullpen guys are now Mets!

With sure thing HOF Jeremy Reed in the mix, we may as well just cancel the 2009 season and give the championship to the Mets.

He's either a year away from free agency, or'll make over $8 million next year. I doubt the fourty saves he's not going to get this year will have any significant effect on his free agent contract.

We all get upset over things. This paticular thing is minor, and not worth worrying about.

You'd be surprised at what athletes making 5 mil per find to whine about.

If he proves he can stay healthy and mantain his stuff, he'll get paid. He has proven he can close.

Just because he makes more money than most of us will ever see doesn't mean he doesn't have a right to whine about something if he feels he is treated unfairly when compared to his peers making the same or more money.

Putz had a great year in 06 and a super year in 07, but not much in 08 or before 06.
It will be interesting to see how he does in NY.
They have a ready-made nickname for him if he pitches poorly.

My comment was misconstrued. I don't know how Putz feels about the situation, I don't know what his contract situation was, my point was supposed to be that he has a right to be unhappy after he was stripped of his closers job and relegated to set up by another team without his consent.

They really aren't ****ing around with that bullpen, are they...
