I just hope that if we do get Garcia, he can stay healthy for the entire season...

I thought the deal he signed with Detroit toward the end of last year was good for at least a few years, or were they able to opt out due to some medical issues?

Regardless, Freddy's arm is a ticking time bomb and one day, mid-delivery, it is going to explode. We don't need kids seeing that.

Apparently he is a FA. According to this article though, he just had another shoulder injury. Link (http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20081205&content_id=3704142&vkey=news_det&fext=.jsp&c_id=det) Pass

Think the contract was just for the end of the year and yes I agree he is one the Sox dont need to take a shot on

He is the right-handed version of Jim Parque now. Has major arm trouble, comes back, tops out in the low-to-mid 80's, gets shelled. Been there, done that, and no thank you.

Only if Matt Clement's involved. Irony would have it that he is the one that the Sox shelled to begin the postseason bonanza that year!

I liked Freddy when he was with the Sox before. Wouldn't like him now. (Not that he's a bad guy, I just think he'd be of little use to the Sox.)

Mark Buehrle throws gas compared to him.

But if we get freddy we can throw even fewer basestealers out and blame it on A.J.!

Didn't Detroit sign him at the end of last year to a minor league contract?

He probably would agree to a one-year deal with a lot of incentives.

Velocity helps, but Garcia knows how to pitch. Before we sent him to Philadelphia, didn't he almost throw a no-hitter while having no velocity on his fastball.

Also, could he be converted to a reliever?

I know it may be irrational, but I would love to have Freddy back. He is just a great guy.

I certainly wouldn't mind having Garcia back in the Sox organization. Nothing wrong with giving the Charlotte Knights a veteran starter.
