Signed a minor league deal.

It's not surprising the Sox let him go after after a 5-11 season in Charlotte. It's more surprising that the Indians (http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20081205&content_id=3703568&vkey=news_cle&fext=.jsp&c_id=cle&partnerId=rss_cle) wanted him.

He probably was thrilled to join his buddy Tanaka. I think in Japan its better to knock yourself out than catch the ball. That was probably the reason he didn't see time with the Sox last year.
