With Javy gone is KW counting on Jose to come back from his injury as a 4th or 5th starter? Is there a chance that Garland returns to the southside?

Didn't Garland want to stay near his hometown? I thought I recall hearing or reading that comment somewhere during the Garland/Cabrera trade last offseason.

Jose will probably be moved to the bullpen IMO.

Garland was also offered arb by the Angels. He is expected to except.

Even if he does come back, I don't think its going to be until at least July, right?

No way in hell are we counting on Jose. If he comes back healthy and there's a spot for him, then it will be an added boost.

That's what I thought. KW can't go into '09 counting on Contreras at all. He's old, has declining skills, and is coming back from a major injury.

Just because a player played here at one time does not mean they will make a triumphant return to Chicago.

Garland and Rowand will never wear a Sox uniform again. Deal with it.

WHY MUST YOU BREAK MY HEART?!?!?!?!?!

Ray Durham will someday return for a southside victory lap!

IF he comes back, Contreras will likely be in the bullpen and it probably won't be until August.

There is about a snowball's chance in hell of Garland coming back.

I believe that the 4th starter for 2009 is not yet in the organization.

The most responsible thing for KW to do is to assume that Contreras will never again throw a pitch for the Chicago White Sox.

We'll have to be content with memories of him, you know, leading the team into the 2005 playoffs.

Ozzie himself said it would be difficult at his age to return at all and Ozzie knows something about serious injuries.

If, and that's a BIG if, Jose comes back, it won't be until the 2nd half of the season and who knows if he'll have anything left to offer...it's not like he was lighting things up before he went on the DL twice was it?

My personal guess is that he's finished.

Gotta agree with Lip here. I can't see Contreras making a successful return from this injury. If we do see him, it definitely wont be in '09. I almost hope he hangs em up for his sake. He's had quite a stay here on the southside.

achilles is a very tough recovery made even harder by Jose's age (I hate getting old)

Maybe in the second half.

Garland isn't very good. We didn't want to give him a long term contract last year, why would we want to do it now?

as good a year as most of the 05 staff had Contreras was lights out going in and during the playoffs with just wicked breakin' stuff, key turnaround for him was near midseason when he finally started listening to AJ on pitches instead of shaking them off and thinking too much

Coop in this morning's interview on the score.

"I bet he's really good or ahead of schedule, knowing the way he works. I expect to see him back second part of the year, after the All-Star break. This is just my guess. What form or what efficiency, to be determined."
