Got this email from the team:

Add Baseball New Year to the list of big dates this holiday season, as December 4th will mark the beginning of a New Era in Winston-Salem Baseball.
As a friend and supporter, we hope you will join us Thursday, December 4th at 11:30 a.m. at the Millennium Center, 101 West 5th Street, Downtown Winston-Salem (27101) as we drop the ball and celebrate the birth of a new name for our franchise. We'll be unveiling the name, logo, uniforms, team merchandise and more at a fun-filled event including FREE food, entertainment and excitement.
The event is free and open to the public, and we encourage you to forward this invitation to employees, co-workers and friends. The official unveiling will take place at approximately 12:15, so please make plans to be on hand. No RSVP is required, but in an effort to aid us in planning, please let us know by responding to ticketsales@baseballdowntown.com (http://us.mc528.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=ticketsales@baseballdowntown.com) if you think you'll be able to join us for the biggest event in Winston-Salem baseball history, Baseball New Year!
If you have questions, please contact us at (336)714-2287.
I look forward to seeing you on December 4th at 11:30am.
Sincerely,

Kevin Terry
Team President

What was wrong with Warthogs?

What was wrong with Warthogs?

They're appealing to the Harry Potter audience and reversing their syllables to Hogwarts.

Probably should have a Twilight reference these days.

Well, the only problem with that is when they change affiliations, they have to change everything again.

Man, that means my Winston-Salem Warthogs T-shirt a friend of mine got for me on a vacation to that area will be obsolete? That's sad.

Is there any rumor as to what the new name will be? It really seems like the town of Winston Salem hates baseball...

I like the change. Out of all the Sox minor league teams, I'm not that fond of the warthogs, name or logo.

I haven't been able to find a hint of the new name searching online. I haven't decided if I'll got to their event yet. I've been to a couple games at their other stadium and they had a good crowd that was really into the game. I think what the city isn't happy about is the cost of the new stadium and it seemed like it was forced to help pay for the new one...

Last year the Gerat Falls (MT.) White Sox changed their name to the Voyageurs because of the problems that can come up with affiliation changes.

Why?

Had lots of money - wanted out of the IT business? If I had the option, I'd rather own a minor league baseball club instead of a tech firm.

Ahh I gotcha. I know him as my cousin's godfather. other than hanging out at his house when I was a kid I haven't heard anything about him.
