Saw on mlbtraderumors.com via ESPN (I didn't read the article) that we are interested in Perez along with the Yankees and Nats. Hopefully the Yankees outbid us on this guy.

Also mentioned he wants to stay with the Nats and his agent is working to make that happen.

His agent stated that the rumor he is working on a multiyear deal with the Nats isn't true.

Goodie.

If true, that means that we are going the cheap, retread, 1 year w/incenntives deal route for our 5th starter. Or so it would seem.

I'm not thrilled to hear this, nor do I like Odalis Perez.

I wonder what kind of a deal Brad Penney expects? I'd much rather take my chances with him coming off an injury than a healthy Perez.

First Edwin Jackson, now Odalis Perez...all Kenny's rumored trades of the past come home to roost.

According to cbssports, not only do we have interest in Odalis, but we have offered Odalis, along with the Yankees and Nationals.

Perez had a fine year with the Nats. Having him as a 4th or 5th starter would be fine.

7-12, 4.34 ERA, 112 Ks, 1.48 WHIP

Fine for me as a 4th or 5th starter.

We could potentially have four lefties in the rotation: Buehrle, Danks, Richard, and Perez? I hope this isn't a precursor to a Buehrle deal.

Adjust those numbers for pitching in the AL, and I think Richard/Marquez can perform close enough to those numbers. I wouldn't mind it if it was a 1 year deal worth 2 million or so. I'm sure his agent should, and probably will, get more than that.

Well if he can pitch in relief, I`d take him. I mean, he has to be better than the Boonemeister.:gulp: Right?

Can you imagine the fits Ed Farmer would throw if we signed Perez.

In games in which we play against Perez, I think 1/3 of Ed's broadcasting time is devoted to telling us how painfully slow Perez is pitching.

Didn't we try and trade for Perez back when he was with the Dodgers? I hope this isn't a guy KW has had his eye on for awhile. Perez scares me, and with those numbers in the NL, they could be down right horrid in the AL.

Yeah, I think KW wanted to trade Frank Thomas for him. Kind of makes sense, Frank was a guy KW always wanted to get rid of and Perez is a guy he always wanted.

Let's hope Perez stays off the Sox.

It was actually Paul Konerko that was rumored to be going to LA for Odalis Perez. Kenny Williams reportedly wanted Edwin Jackson included in the deal too (Edwin was the #1 prospect in the Dodgers organization at the time) and the Dodgers balked at the trade.
