More about Manny being Manny. I doubt they would've gone through with it, though.

As bad as Manny's relationship with the Red Sox during his final months with the organization, one would think Boston would be eager to forget about him and move on.

Sounds like sour grapes by the Red Sox fans at ESPN - they seem to be the media outlet really hounding the subject.

This whole situation is exactly like the Cub/Sammy love story. Cub fans overlooked every glaring problem with Sammy, found all of his antics totally endearing, until one day they realized he was an *******, a fact the rest of the world knew it for years.

And once the fans & enabling clubs break up with spoiled star, they can't wait to throw all the secret stories to the media.

So many similarities it is almost scary.

Yep, except the Cubs never put Sosa on waivers did they...

Boston has been trying to get rid of Manny for a while

They would do that, the fans would talk about how they were sick of "Manny being Manny" but then, when he didn't go anywhere, they would go right back to their insane attachment. And once again, "Manny being Manny" was just adorable.

Yeah but the organization still throws man love at him. Can't break the ego cycle or stop the PR machine.
