According to AP (http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/11/17/sports/BBA-White-Sox-Move.php), the Sox have claimed right-handed reliever Kelvin Jimenez and put him on the 40-man roster. He had a 5.63 ERA for St. Louis last year, and apparently he briefly was employed by the Blue Jays.

Well, Jimenez' numbers don't look like much, but whoever photoshops the player photos (http://mlb.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=459376) at MLB.COM sure is on the ball ....

Where was otis on this one?

Rockabilly would have had it if he wasn't busy filming PG-13 videos of his wife throwing a football.

This sure doesn't say much for our 40 man. Too bad it wasn't Ubaldo.

Or Jose. Or D'angelo!

Has anyone seen this guy pitch?

His numbers in the minors aren't that great either.

2008 in AAA was his only decent season in the minors. Although his strikeouts seem to be down.

I watched a lot of Cardinals games when I was going to Mizzou and saw Jimenez pitch a few times on tv. He's got ok stuff, 94-95 mph fastball and a nice slider, but very wild and he was never up with the MLB club for more than 2 or 3 weeks while someone was on the DL. LaRussa usually pitched him in the 6th or 7th when they were behind or in the 8th & 9th if they were ahead by a lot. I think he was supposed to have developed into a reliable middle reliever by now so the Cardinals let him get away on waivers to Toronto. Not much more than AAA bullpen material, but you never know.

jimenez --- holds his hands at the belt, has a low leg kick that never cracks the plane of his waistline, and holds his torso pretty upright as he delivers the ball. jimenez threw his fastball consistently at 93-94 mph (per fox south's radar gun) on friday and spotted it well;

I respectfully disagree. Don't you have to be good in the minors to be a 4A guy?

Career minor league WHIP of 1.40. I'm sticking with 3A.

Where was otis on this one?

This did not involve the Boston Red Sox. Anyway, Otis usually weighs in on the HUGE deals.

Rockabilly would have had it if he wasn't busy filming PG-13 videos of his wife throwing a football.

This did not involve the State of Arizona in any manner whatsoever.

Is he actually a better risk than MacDougal to protect, or even look at?

It seems they are the same type of pitcher. Or thrower.

I'd rather have MacDougal, although he's way more expensive.
