Where do you think he'll end up. Should the Sox try to sign him for one year?
He had a great second half last year and a proven veteran who can pitch in the playoffs.

I think he wants to stay on the West Coast.

Kenny loves him and tried to work a trade for him years ago so it would be like Kenny to sign him now that his career is practically done.
Pass. Johnson's is a HOF quality pitcher who is unfortunately well past his prime.

You didn't hear that while you were standing next to Kenny in an Airport did you?

The real question is how many losses does he collect before he gets his five wins, and does he retire as soon as he gets the fifth one.

About 7 or 8 and it probably depends on whether the team he pitches for has a realistic shot at a championship if he retires or not.

Gears are turning in KW's mind:
Always wanted him check
Past, no way past prime check
Overpaid check
Closing in on retirement check
Diminishing skills check
Go get him KW

Someone should show KW a tape of Johnson's last perfromance at the Cell.

No, No, No, NO!!! Seriously?!?!?!?! :rolling: I wouldn't sign him. I don't know if there is any team that might. He is not just past his prime, he is vinegar to me.

Sign him and have him play only six games: All six Crosstown Classics. Isn't he something like 14-0 against the Cubs?

Johnson post all star break:
5-3 86 IP 2.41 ERA 1.05 WHIP 78 Ks
Overall:
11-10 184 IP 3.91 ERA 1.24 WHIP 173 Ks
I'd take those numbers on the Sox. Not worth compromising an upgrade at 2B or CF though.
Do it Kenny
He won't have to wear a wig or have his team photo altered for Mullet Night
There will be plenty of interest in him.
Supposedly he was willing to sign for $8M with Arizona. He would probably demand more to play elsewhere.
Dodgers would seem to be a fit, they're competitive and close to home.
It's worth noting he's a neighbor of both Reinsdorf and KW in Paradise Valley and they are all reputed to be on friendly terms.
Who knows, but it bears watching. Someone will want him, I think it really depends on where he wants to play.

Wouldn't mind him on our roster. I'm sure he'd fare better in the playoffs than Javy.

I'd definitely signhim for one year to be the 5th starter - $ 6 mil.+ incentives. He would get his 300th win as a Sox. That's pretty cool.
I'll bet he stays in the NL though.

The guy won 11 games last year with an ERA < 4. Yeah, he's totally washed up.

We almost traded George Bell for Randy Johnson in the early 90's. I remeber hearing that the White Sox even had his jersy made up but, the Mariners pulled the plug.
Anyone else remember this?

I do remember the part where his uniform was all sewn and such and hanging in the White Sox clubhouse. I don't recall if it was George Bell.

In the NL west.
But seriously, it all depends on the contract.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Big Unit in a Sox jersey, but his last year in the AL didn't work out so well. The wins were there, but he also had a pretty bloated ERA (an ERA of 5.00 in 2006:o::o:). It would probably make more sense for him to stay in the NL.
