Twins reliver Pat Neshek needs Tommy John surgery. He hurt his arm last May in Chicago and was rehabbing down in Florida when the UCL completely tore. This is big loss for the Twins pen.

Bummer. Neshek seems like a good guy.

Got a link?

And for everyone who bet before his 130th professional game, congrats.

Really, I'm somewhat his elbow last this long.

Neshek is not a reason to count the Twins out.

I am sure some no name down in the farm will be up here shortly and come up big for them.

This team survided the losses of Johan and Hunter and still battled to the last out of game 163 vs us. You think Neshek will make a difference?

I was surprised that he didn't get the surgery at the time.

The link is on the Twins homepage, which said he had an MRI today. He confirmed the tear on his blog.

They'll get by, they always do.

Probably. They could sign their top draft pick for 2009 to the big-league roster right away and he'd still get a triple and two doubles off us in the Dome.

He's an idiot for not just having the surgery in May when his ligament was partially torn. He missed the whole season anyways and now he'll miss all of 2009 for sure. Two years out instead of one because they opted for rehab over surgery. I know it's not my arm being operated on, but these days any elbow tear seems like automatic tommy john and you can be close to 100% in a year. Oh well, they'll find more bodies for the bullpen and be fine.

Ouch. That means the Twins bullpen will be shorthanded again next year :).

Aren't they also losing the portly Reyes to free agency? Of course, as others have pointed out, they probably have arms in AAA ready to take their place.

Only one more year of this nonsense! :bandance:
