What do you have aganist Fisk being the bench coach..

What do you have against Fisk being the bench coach..

He's 62. He's not going to start his major league coaching career now. That ship has sailed. He has that ambassador title he got a couple years ago, and that's enough for him.

Do you really think Ozzie will have Frank sit next to him, making decisions. If I remember correctly, they aren't the best of friends.

That was my thought, Sandy or Robbie Alomar.

He was a beaut that guy...ok,my smart-ass comment aside, you think Ozzie would be comfortable with someone like Bob Brenly or Kevin Kennedy ? both of these guys have been managers before and would like to again i'm sure but maybe someone who has sat in Ozzie's seat before would be a good thing...

It'll be one of the Alomars. This isn't even worth discussing. He's not going to put anyone with half of a managering mind next to him.

I'd love to see it come full-circle and have Jeff Torborg back in the dugout next to Ozzie.

I always thought Sandy had aspirations of being a manager someday and had a good head on his shoulders. Robbie, I doubt it.

"one of seven candidates". Cora won't get the job. He'll be back chomping on sunflower seeds for us.

Sandy Alomar, Jr. Although, I would love to have him and Cora on the staff together. One can coach 3rd and Cox can go somewhere else. Can we do a Bobby Bowden/Jimbo Fisher thing with Ozzie and Cora?

Ozzie should have one of his sons do it. It would be like passing the line of power down through the throne. :screwloose:

But for real I think that we should take a good look at a good minor league manager to fill that void if Cora should vacate it. Guillen worked under some fine managers as a player and coach, so maybe he can bring someone up. I know, thought in brain let it come out....regardless of whether it gets him a few days off, but maybe that bench coach can help him with that. Just a thought.

Does anyone know if Baines will be back next year.. I have heard reports that he wants to walk away from baseball and than he got sick at the end of the year..

So the Sox might have 2 opening for coaches...

Alomar Jr. was one of those guys people always said had a future in managing after his playing days were over. He spent last season as a catching instructor with the Mets, I would think he would move up the coaching ranks pretty quickly.

Joey interviewed and said he knows what the fans want, but doesn't know if that's an advantage or not. He said the fans want to win the WS. No ****.

Somebody should tell Joey that if the other candidates don't know that, he'll probably get the job.

Can we put a package together for Jerry Manuel? Maybe Jenks and Poreda?

Any possibility that the bench coach could be an active player? (I don't understand all the nuances of contracts and such, so that's why I ask.)

Is anyone on the active roster a possibility?

Thome is the only one who would make sense as he only leaves the bench for his 4 plate appearances each game.

Well, Rose managed the game while playing; that's why I asked.

I heard Art Kushyner is coming back to the White Sox in 2009. I don't know exactly what his role will be or even if he will be in uniform, but perhaps he would be Cora's replacement.
