I think the Sox should sign Moyer to a 2 year deal. I don't think he would command too much money given his age, yet I do think he can still pitch well at this level even at his age because his pitching style is not hard on his body. He gives inning and would be a very good 4th starter in front of Vazquez. I see him as a dependable workhorse who can only be beneficial to the young guns in the rotation. I don't know how high his asking price would be, but is 2yrs/16million too optimistic?

2009 Starting Rotation:

Danks
Buehrle
Floyd
Moyer
Vazquez

with Richard/Broadway/Contreras as backup in case of injury. I think that works pretty nicely.

Whaddya think?

I think Moyer is going to finish his career with the Phillies. He's either staying there, or leaving on top.

If the Sox were to sign a older pitcher . I would rather have Randy Johnson over Moyer

Yes... but not at the price he will get if he decides not to retire.

Moyer grew up in the Philadelphia area, which is why he approved the trade from Seattle. If he doesn't re-sign there, I bet he'll retire.

Even if he was willing to come to Chicago, I'd still pass on him.

No can't say that I have.:redneck

It is more of the AL move combined with another hitter friendly park that would worry me. Oh and that he is 60 years old.

Actually he keeps in pretty good shape. The only problem is he throws like 85ish. I would beg Maddux out of retirement before I signed Moyer.

This leads me to ask, who is older: Jamie Moyer or Jose Contreras?
