He says Poreda could be in the majors next year, Beckham has an impact bat and could reach the majors as a utility man before he is a starter. He also notes Danks is a really good looking player and is a terrific defender.

Did you think he was going to say these guys suck for an article destined to appear on the teams official website?

No, I just thought it was worth posting.

Well the 2 quotes I really don't like from that article are:

"It's not quite as good as it's going to be....he could develop those secondary pitches in the big leagues" about Poreda and his offspeed stuff. I don't know how good I'd feel about us banking that he'll "develop those pitches" in the bigs.

"He's still got that all-or-nothing type of swing, but he goes out there and gets after it" about Jordan Danks. Uhhhmmmmm, well how about we work on that so that's NOT the type of swing he has, instead of just accepting it? Just a suggestion.

You act as if these are not realistic expectations...

Uh...Danks has about 40 professional AB's. Nothing has been "accepted."

You know the off-season has arrived when none of the Ozzie haters even bothers to jump on the part about "Ozzie's patience with young guys."

It's like Greg Walker isn't a hitting coach as much as a Zen master.

John Sickels has his impressions of Beckham, Danks, and Poreda (amoung other prospects) over at the minor league ball blog. He says scouts are getting concerned with Beckham's swing and range. Says Danks could turn into a Steve Finley/Brady Anderson type.

His comment on Brett Wallace is interesting: "Huge butt."

And he does like Poredo, too, in that article.
