Since we have threads about who might be our new 2B and CF next season...

any predictions who might be our new 3rd baseman..

I would like to see Figgens there next year, but we will have to wait and see. I guess I wouldn't mind seeing Fields there, as long as his defense improves and he hits like he did in "07.

Since the question posed is who I think will be our third baseman and not who I want to be our third baseman, I think it will be Josh Fields.

I already have been roasted for this but in my perfect world

Sign Furcal, Trade for Roberts, move Alexei to 3b. Alexei should be pretty solid at 3b, not great, but you have gold glovers up the middle. lineup would then be

1 Furcal SS
2 Roberts 2b
3 TCQ LF
4 Dye RF
5 Thome DH
6 Pk 1b
7 TCM 3b
8 AJ C
9 Swish CF

a good plan B if you get a 2b/ss who can lead off...Adrian Beltre

1 Furcal SS
2 Alexei 2b
3 Quentin LF
4 Dye RF
5 Thome DH
6 Pk 1b
7 Aj C
8 Beltre 3b
9 Swish CF

Figgins would be ideal since then that solves our lead off problem as well.

If not Figgins,

:praying: Adrian Beltre :praying:

I'd like to see Herbert Perry and Greg Norton battle for the job in spring training.

I know its a gamble but I would like to see Mike Schmidt play the hot corner for us. He has such an upside!

IMO, that's the least of our issues and will likely be solved last, after 2B/SS, CF (one of which should bring in our new leadoff hitter) and 5th starter.

Fields and Uribe are still possible options. I'd go for Figgins, but he won't be cheap, (Paul alone won't get it done) and it's only for one year, like Orlando Cabrera.

I really hope the Sox could some how get Figgins. He'd be the leadoff hitter we're missing.

Greg Norton!

Anyways, I think KW will really try to go after Chone Figgins.

Crede will fire Boras and sign a 1 year deal with incentives.

Where else can Crede go? I'll take him on a 1 yr. deal over anyone that out there including Figgins. No team will commit money and years to him. I cannot forget what he's done for us. He's not a jerk he's just been hurt. I will roll the dice just like we did this past season.

GET OVER JOE CREDE.

He has no loyalty to us. His agent had him hold out of the stretch and the playoffs so he did not sustain long term injuries going into his FA period. He did not play through pain, he did not get rid of Boras. Infact, he and boras pissed off the Sox so badly they did not even introduce him with the other injured players before the playoffs and put his tshirt jersey on sale with the likes of the iguchi and podsednik ones.

add to the fact we would just be in the same boat with him again, not getting any real time as he makes his 3-4 dl trips. He can be our Mark Prior, or we can be smart, let him go, and get someone who can handle the entire season.

How about Bill Melton! He won`t cost much, and you can never have enough home-runs.:bandance:

Do you really think he would make adjustments as quickly as TCM did? If so he would be an awesome acquisition. Really awesome =]

Interesting article also. I wonder what real trade value Javier has.

I highly doubt he makes the adjustment as easily but could he be all that worse than Fields. Give him a shot in the spring and if he doesn't do so well let him spend some time in the minors.

I'd like to see them go after Adrian Beltre. I would imagine after last year's disaster with such a large payroll that Seattle may be in a salary dump mode.
