Looks like it be for Leo Nunez. I thought the Marlins may have been able to do better than a middle reliever.

Jacobs has some power, but not much else. Low average, low OBP, and poor defensively.

The Royals certainly have been active already.

They're just looking for the power, and I must say, they didn't choose a very good guy.

I would rather have Nunez than Jacobs

Meh, great power and extra base pop, but he's awful at everything else.

Edit: This is a done deal.

I think both teams got something of value. The Marlins need to beef up the pen, and the Royals needed corner power. The Marlins also need to improve that infield defense. Then I think they're the team to watch out for in 2009. They have everything else, health considering.

Between Sheely, Butler and that Hawaiin guy that crushed in the minors why the hell are the Royals adding another 1b.

I don't get it, he just hits home runs, what value is he going to serve except for the occasional home-run?

Ehhh, Royals will finish fourth next year, one better then the Indians.

Ya, I was wondering the same thing. I figured Ka'aihue would get shot next year.

I think the Indians are gonna bounce back nicely next season...

I think the Indians are gonna bounce back nicely next season...Yep. They're on the Brett Saberhagen-like, every other year plan.

Sounds like Josh Fields.

Sounds like Josh Fields.

Except you're basing Fields off of four months.

Actually, I'm basing it off of his entire time in the White Sox organization.

I'd hate to say this, but as of 10/30/08, in their current contracts:

Mike Jacobs > Paul Konerko

To put it into perspective for you folks that think PK will net Figgins and a SP.

Mike Jacobs is not more valuable than Konerko.

Even in his worst season, Konerko posted an OPS that was 80 points higher than Mike Jacobs' last year. And last year was one of Jacobs' better seasons. He's a big stiff who can't run, can't field just like Konerko. But Konerko is a much better hitter than Jacobs, even at 33. Given his resume and his past history of bouncing back from disappointing seasons, Konerko has more trade value than Jacobs. If Jacobs was that valuable, I'm sure he would of yielded a bit more than Leo Nunez.

Wrong.

Wrong.

I was referring to last season. As in 2008. His 03 OPS was horrible. I should of added the phrase "one of his worst" in there.

Especially considering the first two are definitely better than Jacobs.

Butler can hit for average, but his power has been spotty ... he's fun to watch bat though.
