Putting your predictions aside, who are you rooting for in this year's World Series?

chisoxmike

Where's the neither option?

BadBobbyJenks

I enjoy the suffering of those bastard fans from Philadelphia. I will never root for that city.

JB98

Rays.

I hope they prove the American League is the best league, and I hope they prove the White Sox only lost in the first round because they happened to draw the best team in baseball.

doublem23

Where's the neither option?

Exactly. I can't quite pull myself to root for the Senior Circuit, nor can I stand to watch a bunch of Florida fairweathers clang their cowbells in their dome on their astroturf. Plus, Philly fans deserve it. Tampa fans do not.

:dunno:

I really don't care. Maybe I'll just throw some money on one of these teams so I at least have some sort of rooting interest in this series.

Rays, because that means nobody else beat them, either.

It's a little easier to swallow defeat if you lost to the best.

I can't "root" for another team besides the Sox.

I'd be happy for the Rays in they win. I'd be happy for the Phillies if they win.

I'll be glad to watch a World Series where I don't want a team to lose, like in 06 and 07.

Yes, they do. I guess part of the reason why I'm rooting for the Phillies is that they're from the same city as my 2nd favorite football team.

I like a few players in the Phillies. Howard, Rollins.

But I hate fans from Philly. Maybe the second worst fans, next to fans of ******* Nation.

So I'm rooting for the Rays.

Come to think of it, this is the first World Series I can remember where I wasn't rooting against one side or another since 1993. 1995 and 1997 I was rooting against the Indians; 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2003 against the Yankees; 2002 against Barry Bonds; 2004 and 2007 against the Sawx, 2005 is obvious; and 2006 against Detroit and for St. Louis.

Then again, maybe I just hate a lot of teams.

Phillies. I love it when a real baseball town gets a title. They deserve it, the halls of baseball history wont have a bunch of people 100 years walking down it and going, "Huh?" when they see the Rays won the World Series in 2008.

I think that's my problem, too. I think I have some kind of beef with every team in the league... Let's see...

Entire National League... **** the National League.
Yankees, Red Sox, Indians, TwiCracns, Tigers... For obvious reasons
Blue Jays... 1993 ALCS still burns deep, plus your jerseys are disgusting.
Rays... Fairweather fans, crappy dome, from Florida; yes they pass mustard
Orioles... Peter Angelos is a big douche and Camden Yards ruined the Cell
Royals... Hate them for sucking so much and completely delegitamizing the Central for the better part of a decade now.
Angels... Rally monkey and Thunder Stix
Mariners... 2000 ALDS
Rangers... Texans. Nuff said
A's... Canseco/McGwire good enough but also that House of Horrors they try to pass as a baseball stadium really seals the deal.

Wow, I need professional help.

I'm honestly curious, what kind of beefs do you have with other teams? Yankees, Boston, Cubs, I can see, but what about some of the others? Nats, Diamondbacks, Rockies, etc?

Yes, I had to redact my original statement because after thinking about it while brushing my teeth, I came to my senses and I just don't like the N.L. Obviously, there are some special cases which go above and beyond petty league rivalry (I'm looking at you, Cubs, Cardinals, and Brewers ), but by in large, the N.L. blows.

Why does it matter what the critics say? The Cell is perfectly OK for baseball. Plus, it only matters if you can fill the seats.

Delegitamitizing? If you like to see it that way, sure. But they give us some wins, and they have a nice park. Also, we all know what they did to help us out at the end of this season.

The only teams I hate are:

Yankees (because of their management), Boston (because of their fans), Twins (because of both), Cubs (because of their fans).

I dont hold grudges for teams beating us. I get pissed off at annoying people, like players, owners and fans. Still, I do hate a bunch of teams too, so why am I complaining...

Rays.

2nd favorite team (and have been, don't give me any bandwagon stuff, I still have my 2003 Heart and Hustle poster) after the Sox, with the Brewers rounding out the 3.

And yes bandwagon fans.

Those idiots DIDN'T EVEN COME OUT to watch their 10-year in a row, last place, 90-loss team in a ****ty stadium. SCREW THOSE FANS. I really love how White Sox fans are calling out other teams as bandwagon fans, when we clearly have one of the biggest "bandwagon" fanbases in baseball. We have a bad year, two years removed from a World Series and we have trouble filling the place, yet we're going to call out fans from an expansion team that was last place every single year of their existence until this year. What other fans can they be besides bandwagon? Honestly? Do you have any 3rd-generation Rays fans? How about the ones that grew up on the Rays, if you aren't 15, that really won't apply?

I have no strong rooting interest. I usually get behind the American League if the Yankees aren't playing. Or the Indians. Or the Tigers. (In 1984 I was a Padres fan. In 2006I just hated the Tigers.) This year I couldn't see myself cheering for the Red Sox. I wouldn't mind if the Rays won. But I wouldn't mind if the Phillies won.

Yeah, I think you hate even more teams than I do. For me, it's Cubs, Red Sox, Twins, Yankees, and Indians. I won't root for the Tigers or Royals under any circumstances [except when it helps the Sox], but don't hate them. Outside of that, the Cardinals have always been my 2nd favorite team [not because of the rival of the Cubs thing, although that helps, but because my dad took me to a few Cards games every summer growing up]. Other than the Sox and the Cardinals and the teams listed that I can't stand, I don't really feel strongly one way or the other about any remaining teams.

I'll root for the AL team, too. Except for NY and Boston. I don't care for their teams in ANY sport.

I'm not too fond of Detroit, either, in any sport, but won't waste time rooting against them.

I voted Rays. Although I won't sniffle if the Phillies win. I just want a watchable series.

And the fact that two smaller market teams got in is okay with me.

Exactly. I generally root for the AL team. I'd love to see the AL get their 4th sweep in 5 years just to further expose the inferiority of the NL.

I wouldn't always root for an AL team. If the Red Sox, Yankees, or Indians were in it, I'd root for the NL team (unless the NL team was the Cubs). I'm not sure who I'd root for if Minnesota were in it.

I don't agree with all this "Tampa fans don't deserve it" talk. How soon we forget that people were saying this about our team 3 years ago. We were all infuriated when people suggested that the Sox past attendance woes and smaller fan base meant Sox fans didn't deserve to have our team win the WS. Did everyone forget all the crap we put up from Cub fans and the media saying "nobody cares that the Sox are in it"?

It sounds a bit hypocritical for us to now say the same B.S. about Tampa fans.

(I'm having trouble deciding which team to root for. There are some former Mariners on the Phillies that I like (Jamie Moyer and Greg Dobbs, who is also a former Tacoma Rainier), but I like the Rays too because of the good young talent they have. I'm looking forward to what I hope is a good series match-up.

Even though it's late in the game, I added an "I don't care" option to the poll.

Some will watch the WS just for the baseball, and only want an exciting series without caring who wins. Some don't care because their team isn't in it. I suspect that "I don't care" would have gotten a lot of votes had it been available from the beginning.

I've always rooted for the AL since I was young. I've just always hated the NL. I also enjoy seeing the NL exposed for what it is right now and that is the AAAA league. The Rays will likely beat the Phillies quite soundly. I'm thinking 5 games or so.

I hate the argument of which team deserves it more. How often do we hear Cub fans say their team deserves a championship more than any other team? No team deserves it more than another. You earn a championship.

In the end though, I could care less who wins. I just hope for a good series because I know when December rolls around I am going to be missing baseball.

Well, at least from my perspective, when I talk about deserving a championship, I'm talking about the fans. Cubs fans do not deserve a championship because of their incessant whining and putting of the cart before the horse, and because of the marketing machine, rather than baseball team, that draws them together. I know the Philly fans have a rep for being jerks, but at least they show up, and they let you know if you are good or bad. Tampa? They didn't even show up all year, unless there was a concert after the game. And they'd rather go to the football game than game 7. They deserve nothing. I'm not sure they even need a baseball team there. Again, this has nothing to do with the team.
