Where's the ALCS.Screen goes green, about ten minutes of commercials and now Bloopers. Did TBS forget to pay MLB?

They ran a thing at the bottom of the screen that said they were undergoing technical difficulties, and now they just started showing more sitcom reruns. What the heck?????? I've had a crap day and watching baseball was the only thing I've been looking forward to, and now this?

Did TBS realize that the Rays blew game 5? Get this Steve Harvey off.

Well, considering they've had over 20 mins since the game started, let alone test time before that, this is some amateur job. Hell, Comcast manages to broadcast tons of Sox and Cubs games, and I only remember 1 incident that was as bad as this.

We broadcasted the Iowa/Iowa State game on BTN and the AC stopped working in the truck. Equipment just started shutting down. Just because you have all day to prepare for something doesn't mean nothing will go wrong at the last second.

I'm guessing they were faxing out and everything just dropped so the engineers took a little bit longer to pin point what exactly was wrong.

You can be pissed that you missed one inning of baseball, or you could think about the people that were just completely busing their asses to get baseball to you.

That's all well and good, but if I work at McDonald's, and someone waits 20 minutes for their order, they have every right to complain regardless of if the grill shut down and you are working to fix it.

That's one of the advantages of XM radio. Instead of listening to the TBS broadcast, I'm listening to Dave Wills and the Rays' broadcast on XM. And, as always, Wills' broadcast is outstanding.

I have been involved in sports television production for a long time and this fiasco even tops Heidi. Heidi actualy happened because a technician in Iowa did exactly what his orders said to do which was to give New York control of the network instead of Burbank.

No excuse for what happened last night. TBS master control when they lost the signal from the pre-game studio simply switched automatically to a video server that had Bloopers and Steve Harvey running. Incredibly there was no way to do a manual override to put the studio back on the air. The studio control room gets the raw feed from the park and inserts the commercials.

The TBS master control center is automated and handles CNN, Headline News, TBS, TNT and Peachtree TV (the old TBS on Channel 17) The routers in question simply would send the studio control output to master for uplinking to the bird.

The game could not be delayed as both starters had warmed up.

Viewers in Canada, Europe and Asia had no problems with the MLB International feed which is produced by ESPN.

The announcing has been excellent. Chip, Buck Martinez and Ron Darling are a really good team. Buck Martinez has a unique sound, but he's as knowledgeable as anyone behind the mic.

I watched the game last night around midnight on DVR. I will give TBS credit for doing a hell of a job of recapping what happened in the first inning after they finally solved their issues. They quickly ran through each at-bat with video (except for Pena's walk in the first) and had numerous replays of Upton's HR. I thought they made a nice recovery.

You have no idea.....

Can't blame the truck for this one as the signal reached Atlanta fine and the Hot Corner feature was working as well.

The last time something like this happened during the playoffs was in 1989 when ABC lost the feed from Candlestick and the last thing anybody heard was Al Michaels saying 'earthquake' and ABC went to Roseanne.

ABC said nothing for about 10 minutes and I remember switching to CNN and Bernard Shaw saying the Bay Bridge had collapsed.

ABC finally got a feed back from ESPN and Chris Berman did a fantastic job giving us the details.

That's not an excuse. TBS is a national tv station, not some high school AV club. They should have the resources and personnel to fix any broadcast issues (technical issues of course, stuff like weather would be out of their hands) in a timely manner.

I didn't know both ABC and ESPN were both under the Disney umbrella way back then. I think they overdo they cross-promoting nowadays between the 2 networks.

In 1989 ABC and ESPN were owned by Cap Cities Broadcasting who later sold to Disney.

Cap Cities is best known for the longest running news into in the biz

and the Phanatic is ALWAYS in it

It now appears the blackout was caused by an angry ex-Turner employee

Im not sure if this is a photoshopped picture or not, but if its a real promo then TBS should be stripped of its MLB broadcast privledges.

This is why World Series games that dont involve the Yankees or Red Cubs dont get ratings, because the broadcast partners don't push anything else.
