Didn't see a thread on this and I thought it was worth mentioning. Bruce Dal Canton, who pitched briefly for the 1977 "South Side Hitmen" White Sox, has died. I remember his brief tenure with the team, and also that he played mostly for the Pirates.

I was intruigued by his story. He was a high school teacher when he tried out for the Pirates, giving his dream of being a big league ballplayer one last shot. He made it and stuck around the majors for ten years. Talk about your dreams come true.

Bruce was also the Yankee pitcher who on August 23, 1972 at Comiskey Park gave up the titanic home run to Dick Allen which landed in the center field bleachers and was almost caught by Harry Caray.

The audio from that play can be found in this story:

Just look for August 23, 1972 and click on Let Me Hear It!

Don't mean to be rude, Lip but your post didn't look right. I double-checked on retrosheet, and it was Lindy McDaniel that gave up Allen's bleacher shot, not Bruce Dal Canton.
