If we win tomorrow will we win game 5 and move on to the ALCS?

Not if we win tomorrow, when we win tomorrow will we win game 5 and I do have confidence that the Sox could pull a win out in the Trop.

Buehrle will difinitly show up for game 5, it's wether or not our offense does.

Story of our season. I always wonder how many more wins Mark (or Danks for that matter!) would have had in April/May if our offense had made an appearance.

I say 50-50... Sox suck in domes, but the Sox have the momentum. With no Vasquez on the mound, anything can happen.

I agree. He pitched a great game Friday, but the offense let him down. It'll all come down to the hitting.

Sox win tomorrow, we will go to the ALCS, Mark won't be denied twice.

My heart tells me if we force a game 5, we will win it and shock the baseball world. My brain tells me that we can't win a road game lately if our life depended on it, especially in a dome. I'd like to have the opportunity to find out what happens.

WHEN the Sox win tomorrow, Buehrle will be ready for game 5. It would be nice if Paulie and Dye would get going, too, but I don't think Buehrle will give up another fluke home run to Iwamura again and give us a really good chance.

The Sox like playing in games where it's do or die and that is what we have tomorrow and then for game 5

I have to be honest here. I think that we will likely win tomorrow, but man, we just just seem to be a different team in domes. I was there at game 1 in the Trop, and perhaps I'm biased by the team's performance in that game and my experience in that environment, but the crowd seemed oppressive to me and it seemed like our team was affected by it too. If I was a betting man, I'd have to go with the Rays in a game 5.

But if we took this series on their turf, which is our only option of course . . . how sweet it would be.

I feel optimistic about our chances at home. The dome frightens me. Right now, I just want there to be a Game 5. Win tomorrow and then take our chances.

Can we do another coin flip for game 5? I like our chances with that better. :whiner:

:gulp:

I could go for three blackouts in a row at The Cell.

Thanks, yesterday was hopefully the boost this team needed.

I don't know if we'd win game 5 or not...On one hand, having a lefty on the mound is good, as TB struggles against them...On the other hand, they play .700 ball at home...but I do know this, I'd like to see us try. :)

I didn't know where to put this, and it definitely didn't deserve it's own thread...

BUT

Why is Gavin only -123 at most online books?

That is essentially a 6/5 favorite in a home game, against a pitcher we hit last time out, with one of our hotter arms going. Also, I guarantee that the WSox have 100X the "homer" money coming in on them that the Rays do. So why aren't the Sox bigger favorites? The only thing I can come up with is that Sonnanstine owned us up until his last start. For example, Lester is -140 at home against frickin' Lackey. I didn't pound the line, it actually kind of scares me. I bet baseball daily and I honestly would have guessed the line to be -140 or -145. Any sharps here want to shed some light?

TB is perceived to be the better team, and the pattern of teams that come home down 2-0 (basketball, hockey, baseball), is that they generate the energy for one game, then reality sets in and they lose game 4, like the Brewers did yesterday.

We'll see. Tampa is young and the pressure will be on them if they have to face an elimination game so quickly in the playoffs.

The one thing about Buehrle is the fact that at any point he can turn into Mr. Unhittable. He's consistently good, but at times he just becomes great. I would like our chances. Gotta get there, though.

If we can get to game 5, I would say that we would have a good chance of taking it. We would have the momentum, and our big game lefty on the mound. If it is true that the Rays played .700 ball at home, the law of averages would agree that the Rays would be due to lose a home game. Winning 2 and losing 1 would be a .666 average, which is on par with their season average. In other words, my guess is as good as anybodies.

And even better - no Vazquez!

I agree. I think if the offense keeps going this afternoon, and Floyd is Mr. Consistency like he's been all season, we take game 4. If we take the game today, I really like our chances in Game 5.
